LESSON PLAN

-Type of activity planned: Skill-Listening
-Unit and lesson: New Opportunities, Module 1. Adventure, 3. Extreme sports
-The objective of the activity: SS will be able to prepare and use the strategies
for listening of the text, SS will practice and be able to use the expressing preferences, SS will
learn and revise vocabulary concerning sports and will be able to use the new words.
-Difficulties SS are expected to have: SS might have a limited knowledge about extreme sports,
they might not be familiar with some of the words and names of the sports and would not have
knowledge about what expressing references are and when to we use them.

-T introduces the topic by talking about sports and


physical activity,

-T will ask S to give an examples of some more


dangerous and extreme sports, and will write key
words concerning extreme sports on the board:
bungee jumping, extreme mountain biking, extreme
skiing, ice-canyoning, ice diving, sky surfing,
snowboarding, snowrafting, white water rafting.

-T will ask S to open their books and look at the


photos at the page 14. and match them with key
words,

-T will ask S to read and try to answer the questions


1,2,3 in the exercise 1.

-T will ask S to read the Listening Strategies and look


at the title and photos again and ask them to try to
guess what the text they will listen is about,

-T will play the tape and ask S to listen to the tape


and fill the empty parts of the table,

when do we use them,
-T will ask students to carefully listen to the
interview again and complete the Function File with

-T will write on the board a topic for the homework,


S will have to write 3 sentences about their favorite
athlete,
-T will ask S to write 3 sentences using expressing
preferences and some of the words given in the task:
skiing, rock climbing, playing basketball, bungee
jumping, swimming, sailing, snowboarding, playing
tennis, ice-skating, ski-jumping.
