Measuring room temperature using thermo couple

Equipments:
1- Voltmeter.
2- Copper wires.
3- Constantan wire.
4- Ice bath.
5- Water.

Procedure:
1- Measure the room temperature.
2- Make up the thermo couple by connection copper and constantan at one joint and the other
joint where we will use the ice bath.
3- Make up the joints.
4- Connect the wires to the Voltmeter.

The room temperature was 220 C.

T=a0+a1V, V= 0.8512 mV
Analytically, using the T type thermo couple (copper, constantan). We found difference in
voltage to be = 8.512 * 10-4 V = 0.8512 mV
Experimentally, we found the Voltage as 0.4 mV
Then by substituting in the equation we found T = 10.392 0C
This difference is due to the ice bath, it must be at 00C but in our case it wasn’t because we
didn’t wait enough to get the mixture of water and ice there. This affected our result.
