SYNOPSIS
The Design Project course is the pinnacle of the Chemical Engineering program.
Students are required to carry out a project on related topic to chemical engineering.
Although this course is designed as a team work, much emphasis is given to the
individual effort in carrying out of the task. This course focuses on the literature study
of the project including process background, market analysis, site selection,
environmental & safety consideration, detailed mass & energy balances and process
simulation
3.0
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
Identify different steps taken to perform a research or developmental work of a
chemical engineering design project.
2. Perform detailed chemical engineering calculations using manual calculation and
prove it using Hysys simulation
3. bptimized design of chemical engineering plant in compliance with local
legislation.

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION
Students will proceed with the detailed design of the whole process as stated in the
Guideline for besign Project I CHE 684. Supervisors of the respective group will
supervise the group till the end of the semester. Please refer to the Guideline for
Supervisor of Design Project I (cHE 634) & Design Project II (cHE 694).
