Music Magazine Questionnaire Analysis

Here I am going to assess and analyse the results of the questionnaire about music magazines I
created. I am then going to use the information I collect from my results to help me plan my own
music magazine.

This graph shows that the people who filled out my questionnaire were between the ages of 11-24.
The majority of the young people who answered the questions were 16-18 and this is because I gave
my questionnaire to students at my college.

This graph is showing the number of people who chose each music genre that was mentioned when
answering this question. I included this question in my questionnaire to try and see the most popular
genres of music among the target audience so I could try and relate my magazine to suit them by
including aspects of pop and pop punk in my magazine.

3. Have you ever purchased a music magazine within this genre?

The pie chart is showing how many people have, and havent, brought a magazine within the genre
that they have stated in the previous question. It can be seen that 80% of the target audience have
brought a music magazine of the genre they enjoy, which suggests that they might be interested in
buying my music magazine.

This bar chart is showing the artists that the people associate with the genre of Alternative Rock and
how many of the people said each artist. This is useful as it is going to help me to understand who
the target audience is familiar with and therefore the popular artists, like The Killers, Arctic Monkeys
and Panic! At The Disco, that I should be including in my own music magazine.

For question five, this pie chart is showing the colours which people most associate with the genre

know that I need to include black and other dark colours somewhere on my magazine as these are
what the people would mostly expect.

music events.

The bar chart here is showing, out of the options given with the question, which features of a music
magazine that the target audience would most like to see in a music magazine. It can be seen that
the most popular feature within a music magazine is interviews with new artists, closely followed by
album reviews. From this information, I am going to consider including these features in my music
magazine in order to appeal to the target audience.

In this bar chart, we can see the four options which people wrote for this answer. This shows that
the target audience are mostly interested in interviews with new and/or popular artists and
therefore I am considering including an interview with an artist as the main article of my magazine as
this feature seems fairly more popular than the other features mentioned, and therefore it likely to
attract the target audience to my music magazine more.

9. How much would you be willing to spend on a music magazine?

2 - 2.99

This chart shows the average maximum prices that the audience is willing to pay for a music
magazine. This shows that the majority of people will pay between 2 - 3 for a music magazine and
this also helps me see the social class of the target audience as it shows how much they can afford
within their class, and therefore the price range that my magazine needs to fit into to be suitable for
them.

10. How often would you buy a music magazine?

From this pie chart, it can be seen that the most popular options are both fortnightly and weekly as
weekly only has 10% fewer votes than fortnightly. This means that my music magazine should be
published more frequently, instead of monthly or yearly.
