Body
Selecting important uses for English:
- I will have 10 words on a word search that I have
distributed
- I will explain to students that they have one
minute to find the words in the word search
- I will ask the students to raise their hands if they
would like to share a word, one at a time
Discussing the Language Arts:
- When students tell me words, I will write them on
the whiteboard
- I will circle six of the words, and cross out the
others, and then explain that these words are
called the six Language Arts
- I will explain why these six words have been
selected as the most important uses for ELA
- I will explain that the six Language Arts guide
every general outcome in the Program of Studies
- I will erase each word and ask each student to tell

call on students individually to read the card that
they have found; after they have read out their
card, I will explain what that general outcome

What went well?
What changes
would you make in
your planning?
What have you
learned to improve
upon future
instruction?

My Scavenger Hunt went over well as students were able to show they
comprehended the general outcomes in the third activity. I have learned that
I must improve my guesses with timing.
