FINISHES

1. Internal floor finishes

We apply 25mm thick cement and sand (1:3) as specified paving trolled finish to floor slab. The
standard 25mm cement and sand for floor slab is state in specification that given by client. For
the plant and machinery we used concrete mixer to mix the cement and sand.
2. Non Slip Ceramic Tiles
For office area, we used non slip ceramic tiles. The standard for non slip ceramic tiles is 200mm
x 200mm with colour bedded and jointed in cement and sand (1:3) screed as specified to floor
slab office area. We used this type of ceramic because the surfaces have a relatively longer life
if compared to most of the other materials used for floor finishes. Beside that this ceramic tiles
are treated to prevent slipping either by adding an abrasive grit to the glaze or texture to the
surface. This anti-slip factor is also particularly defined and related in tile flooring. To install non
slip ceramic tiles we used trowel to spread thin-set mortar and cutting tiles machine to cut the
tiles.
3. Homogeneous tiles
For principals room, senior assistant room and meeting room we used homogenous tiles. The
size is 200mm x 200mm homogeneous tiles in standard colour is bedded and jointed in cement
and sand (1:3) and including cement and sand (1:3) screed as specified to floor slab.
Homogeneous tiles are durable in nature and we used for long term benefit. Homogeneous
tiles are made up of brittle clay material. To install this homogenous tile we used trowel to
spread thin set mortar and cutting tiles machine to cut the tiles.
4. Skirting
Specification of skirting is 12mm thick plaster of cement coarse sand mortar (1:3) shall be
applied on the floor and allowed to hardened. The tile will be soaked in water cleaned and a
coat of cement slurry applied liberally at back of the tiles and set in the bedding mortar. The

joint for skirting shall be cleaned of the gray cement to depth of 2mm and loose mortar
removed. Tool we used is trowel and cutting tile machine.
5. Carpet
For music room we used carpet as floor finishes. We used carpet because it cost less to
maintain. Carpet are practical because they are easier on the feet and its prevent slips and
cushion falls. For the music room they can reduce the noise level because of their natural
insulating properties, it can help to reduce the cost of air conditioning.
6. Internal Wall Finishes
Internal wall we use painting as a finishes. We apply 19mm thick cement and sand (1:6)
plastering to Side of wall and column. Prepare and apply one coat of alkali resisting primer and
two coats of approved wall and column. We used satin finish paint because this paint has a
smooth, velvety look with a bit more gloss.
7. External wall Finishes
Prepare and apply one coat of alkali resisting primer and two coats of approved weather coat
paint with plastered surface of wall and column. In this project we used flat or matte paint
finish. This type of paint is last longer and have a high quality. Tool that used for external
painting is sturdy roller sleeve, paint tray, paint brush and extension ladder.
8. External roof finishes
For external ceiling finishes we used asbestos free cement sheet. In this project we used
asbestos with 3.2mm thick asbestos free cement sheet ceiling set out symmetrically from
centre of room in panel size 1200mm X 600mm nailed to and including 50mm X 50mm sawn
pressure treated Grade B timber spacer at 600mm centers complete with 75mm X 50mm saw.
We used this asbestos cement sheet because they provide durability, insulation and
fireproofing. They also easy to install and inexpensive.
