by demonstrating 5Gbps, the world's fastest LTE-based network speed in the 15GHz

bandwidth
For example, with Massive MIMO the reference codes, such as the CSI-RS (channel
state information reference signal) should be modified to support hundreds of an
tenna ports, and the terminals should also be modified for the feedback of hundr
eds of PMIs (Pre-coding Matrix Indicator).
However, in TDD (time division duplex) mode, the symmetry of uplink and downlink
channels can be used for channel estimation. Although without feedback channels
, the accuracy of channel estimation even exceeds the feedback result. Another e
xample is inter-site interference cancellation in UDNs (user densification netwo
rk). The interference can be decreased effectively through ZTE's sophisticated 4
G Cloud Radio architecture, such as its dynamic local mesh networks, and the R12
on/off technologies.
In addition, ZTE says that it has invested in the development of 4G vector proce
ssing chipsets, which have extensible software architecture and can meet pre-5G
requirements by modifying software instruction sets rather than changing hardwar
e.
"With next-generation 5G technologies being deployed in 2020, there were industr
y concerns over what technologies will be used in the next six years," said Dr X
iang Jiying, ZTE's CTO of wireless products. "To address this, ZTE proposes to a
pply some of the 5G technology on top of 4G to meet users' requirements."
The company didn't say when the first fruits of this research will be in consume
rs hands though.
Huawei will be introducing the latest mobile technologies such as SCMA, full dup
lex, and cloud base station to the 5G network, as well as providing testing 5G t
erminals in trial zones.
Using ZTE's latest 64-port/128 antenna 3D/Massive MIMO base station, with a much
higher PDSCH beam forming gain, the test shows an coverage enhancement for tall
building, with improvement for indoor reception. This further demonstrated the
superiority of the new technology over existing intelligent antennas in complica
ted multi-path urban and indoor areas, as well as open rural areas.
The new ZTE solution is enabled by the company's high-performance vector process
or SOC chipset, and brings 3D/Massive MIMO, a key technology for 5G, closer to c
ommercial reality.
The CTO of ZTE's Wireless Division, Dr. Xiang Jiying, said that, "As the number
of antennas is ten times more, 3D/Massive MIMO had appeared to be a distant pipe
-dream. However, the test indicates that we are taking a big step forward to rea
lize the new technology using 4G handsets. This is a result of a number of innov
ations, and is in line with the pre5G concept previously proposed by ZTE. We wil
l continue to deliver Pre5G features to offer 5G-like experience before 5G stand
ardization."
3D/Massive MIMO, using the multi-antenna technology, improves wireless spectrum
efficiency exponentially, increases network coverage and system capacity, and he
lps telecom operators maximize the use of existing site locations and spectrum r
esources. According to the simulation, the throughput can be 4-6 times higher. Z
TE attaches high importance to the research and development of 5G products, and
has achieved breakthrough developments in a series of key technologies.
The equipment used for the tests was based on Ericsson's commercially available
14B software release supporting the company's multi-standard RBS 6000 family of

base stations for macro and small cell networks, which allows for unparalleled u
ser experience on operator networks using multi-frequency deployments. Ericsson
supports all bandwidth and frequency combinations for up to 60 MHz 3x Carrier Ag
gregation, providing users with speeds of up to 450 Mbps.
