Course Description: This course introduces students to the basic tools of statistics and
shows how they are used in the analysis of social science data. A fundamental
understanding of these tools is a critical foundation for social science research in many
fields. The course covers descriptive statistics, inference from samples, hypothesis
testing, and the basics of regression analysis.
Course Objective: The objective of this course is to provide students with a statistical
foundation that can be used in future undergraduate and graduate studies, as well as in
applied work environments.
Requirements:
1. Levin and Fox (2003). Ele mentary Statistics in Social Research 9th Edition.
2. Scientific Calculator – cost should range from $8 - $15.
3. Blue Books for Exams
Course Evaluation: There will be four exams. The first three will be sectional exams.
The final exam will be a comprehens ive final examination. Examinations will be given
