Headmasters Corner
What a week it has been since the last Tracker! Last Saturday was the FOTM Christmas Fayre and, as expected, it
proved to be a roaring success. I know all the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and I thank all of the many parents
and staff who helped. I was able to provide feedback to children in Mondays assembly that Father Christmas had emailed
to say that he was very impressed by the childrens manners. The Fun Run that morning was also very enjoyable and I
congratulate the children who comfortably notched up an excellent three miles through the mud and puddles.
On Monday we were treated to the Wrens and Robins Christmas performance and I congratulate all of the staff, children
and parents on a super production. This was followed on Thursday by the Owls production which clearly highlighted just
how confident our three and four year olds can be. The singing was clear and beautiful and I especially congratulate Lottie
for her solo singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Lower School gave their performance today which I know was enjoyed by
all who came to watch.
Tomorrow we wish our two hockey teams and the U13 rugby team all the very best in the last games of their very
successful seasons.
Finally, we very much look forward to seeing you at the annual Carols Around the Tree on Sunday at 4pm. The time has
been brought forward slightly so that parents with younger children can join us. This year the event will also incorporate
the Old Tockingtonians Noggin and Natter.
Details have been sent to you regarding next weeks Carol Service and we look forward to seeing as many of you as
possible in St Marys Church to join us in what will be a very special occasion. Please park at the school and walk down
with us if you can to avoid too much congestion. The Service will start at 1.30pm and children will need to come back to
school afterwards to collect their reports.

Indian Dance Assembly

Tuesday morning got off to a colourful and energetic start with Year 4 giving a fantastic performance of an Indian dance
routine that they have been learning in their Dance Drama lessons this term. Thank you to Mrs Patel for all the wonderful
scarves and outfits and to Mrs Glanville for teaching Year 4 such a super, topic inspired, dance.

Tockington Tardis

Scholastic Book Club

The Tockington Tardis (an old phone box situated outside

the Swan) is a food collection point for food for
underprivileged families over Christmas who dont have
enough to eat. Donations are collected regularly.

Thank you very much to the 13 families who placed the

orders for books from the Scholastic Book Club. You
raised us 85 in Rewards, which we can spend in the
future to keep the library up to date and full of the things
that the children like to read. I hope that you all enjoy the
books and found the service easy and to your liking.

Year 2 Christmas Letters

Year 2 have been busy writing letters to Father Christmas
this week. He is going to have lots of 'real live' elves in his
sack this year. Come and have a look at their letters
displayed in the classroom.

Theatre Trips

Football

The school was a ghost town on Thursday

afternoon as Years 3 to 8 disappeared to the
theatre and left the rest of the school to enjoy
their own productions at school. Years 3 to 5
went off to Cheltenham Everyman to see
Sleeping Beauty but there was no chance to
sleep through it with all the shouting, singing
and dancing that went on. Tweedy the Clown
was once again in a starring role and amazed us
all. The colour, the costumes, the scenery, the
atmosphere were all breath-taking. We all got to
sing the songs we had learned in our Panto
Workshop and we had a great afternoon out
with the teachers. Years 6 to 8 went to the
Redgrave Theatre to see Alice in Wonderland
and What She Found There. This was another
brilliant production by the Bristol Old Vic Theatre
School. The characters were as weird and
wonderful as they should be and, with seats
right at the front, we quite often felt the chill
stare from the Queen of Hearts. The scenery
was simple but so effective and we all loved it. A
great afternoon was had by all, with the added
advantage that more of the teachers could come
too. We highly recommend both productions to
anyone who fancies a trip.
Thank you to Mrs Gooch for all her help with the
preparations for both trips and to the Kitchen
Staff who were so accommodating with all of the
Early Lunches.

Congratulations to Alex Grocott

(Year 7) on being selected for
the standby list for the South
West Region ISFA U13 football
squad after the recently held
second trial. This is a notable
achievement as the majority of
the squad are in Year 8. Good
luck, Alex!

Aerosols
We would like to remind parents
and children that aerosol sprays
are not allowed in school. This
includes deodorant sprays.

Panto Workshop

Christmas Jumper Day

Next Thursday will be Christmas Jumper Day at school. Everybody is invited to wear their Christmas jumpers to school
on Thursday. We saw lots of fantastic ones being sported at the School Fayre last weekend and would love to see them
again. School uniform trousers/shorts/kilts as usual, but please bring 1 to donate to the Air Ambulance fund, put on your
most Christmasy jumper and celebrate the season in (debatable) style.
