Your Dining Room & Kitchen

The feng shui of the family dining room is very

important if you want to activate for wealth and
abundance luck for the family. The ideal location
for the dining room is in the center or deep inside
the home. When the heart of the home is regularly
occupied by the whole family, it creates harmony
and prosperity luck. The act of eating and all food
associations symbolize abundance. It is therefore
considered inauspicious if food is placed sparingly
on the dining room table.
The best Chinese table always looks prosperous.
The refrigerator is always well stocked and the
family rice urn is never allowed to get empty.

Important

tips to ensure an auspicious dining room

1) Place the three star gods Fuk Luk Sau in

your dining room to bring health, wealth
and prosperity to the family.
2) Fix a large mirror on one of the walls of
your dining room to double the food on
the table, to symbolize abundance.

3) Hang a chandelier in the center above

the dining table.
4) Display fresh flowers on
your table to create vibrant chi
energy.
5) Arrange your family
members to sit and eat facing
their auspicious directions
based on their kua number.
6) For wealth accumulation
luck, display a bowl of
garlic as a centerpiece to your
dining table. The garlic does
not be real; you can use
figurine garlic plated in gold.

7) Place a Tang Bell on a side table in

your dining room; sound the bell 3
times before you eat to welcome
good fortune energy.
8) Do not place a clock in your
dining area as this symbolizes an
end to the abundance of
food.

Ideal Shapes for Dining Tables

The best shapes for your dining table are round, rectangular or Pa Kua shaped (8-sided). All the numbers
that popularly make up the dining table 6, 8 and 10 are auspicious numbers. On the round table, a
lazy susan is an auspicious feature best placed in the center. This slightly raised, second layer for the
food to be placed on and rotated, is extremely auspicious.
Dining rooms and especially dining tables should not be placed directly below toilets
situated on the floor above, nor should there be anything heavy like a piano or a
large cabinet pressing down on the dining area. These are inauspicious.

Arrangement and Layout of the Kitchen

The kitchen represents the manifestation of the familys well-being and
wealth. It is useful for pressing down on bad luck caused by bad flying
star numbers or personalized directions of bad fortune. According to the
Eight Mansions and Flying Star formulas, certain sectors of the house are
deemed to be unlucky. If your kitchen is located in an unlucky sector, this is
a good thing.

Guidelines On The Kitchen and Stove:

1. The kitchen should have sufficient lighting.

2. It should be airy and spacious.
3. Do not place the stove next to or directly opposite
the sink or refrigerator. This is because of the
incompatibility of the Water and Fire elements.
4. The stove must be at least one foot away from
the sink.
5. The mouth of the stove should face one of the best
directions of the father of the family. This energises
the stove, making the food cooked in it auspicious for the family.
6. Do not try to energize the kitchen with feng shui figurines or mirrors.
7. Kitchens should be nearer to the back door than the front door.
8. The kitchen should never be located in the middle of the home.
9. Good feng shui kitchens should take the orientation of the stove, oven and rice
cooker into account. When auspiciously oriented, the stove can bring enormous
good fortune to a family.
10. The kitchen stove should not be in the Northwest sector. This is called Fire at
Heavens Gate and brings bad luck to the breadwinner, causing the head of the
household to lose their job and money.
11. The stove should not face the main door or any bedroom door.
12. The stove should not be directly under an exposed overhead beam.
13. Stoves should not be placed directly under a toilet located on the floor above.
14. The stove should not directly face a toilet door.
15. The rice cookers knob should not face the main entrance or door, as this
symbolises food flowing out of the house.
