1. Estimated population
Floor occupancy = 10 units = 22 person
*each bedroom assume 2 person
P = 40 floors * 22 = 880
According to table, the lift system proposed should be size to handle 62 persons
with a 40s interval, ie: a satisfactory system performance.
B) Estimate car size to handle 62 persons in five minutes with an UPPINT of 40s
- Number of trip in 5 minutes period: 300 / 40 = 7.5 = 8
- Number of person per trip: 62 / 8 = 7.75 = 8
- Car size will be = 8 * 0.8 = 6.4
A 8 person lift car is the nearest standard size. Then, from Table.3.4 H =33.4 , S
=6.0 , P = 6.4
C) Decide on the lift system
- Total travel is 162m: Table 3.6 indicates minimum rated speed of 6m/s
- Thus transit time is 3.4m / 6 = 0.5s
2nd Scenario ( Break into three zones ( low, mid & high)
Estimation of quality of services
3. Estimated population
Floor occupancy = 10 units = 22 person
*each bedroom assume 2 person
P = 15 floors * 22 = 330
According to table, the lift system proposed should be size to handle 23 persons
with a 40s interval, ie: a satisfactory system performance.
B) Estimate car size to handle 23 persons in five minutes with an UPPINT of 40s
- Number of trip in 5 minutes period: 300 / 40 = 7.5 = 8
- Number of person per trip: 23 / 8 = 2.875= 3
- Car size will be = 3 * 0.8 = 2.4
A 5 person lift car is the standard size. Then, from Table.3.4 H =12.5, S =3.6, P =
4.0
C) Decide on the lift system
- Total travel is 54m: Table 3.6 indicates minimum rated speed of 2.5m/s
- Thus transit time is 3.4m / 2.5 = 1.4s
Lift cars for mid & high zones with same lift car size need to have travel speed of
5m/s or 6 m/s respectively
