Give the state of the title under each of the following grants, assuming that common law
rules (c. 1776) are in effect. (In answering these problems, however, you may ignore the Rule
Against Perpetutities.) In each case, the grantor began with a fee simple absolute. Identified
individuals are born and ascertainable.

to Amanda and her heirs, then to Bill and his heirs

2.

to Amanda and the heirs of her body, then to Bill and his heirs

3.

to Amanda for life, then to Bill and his heirs

4.

to Amanda and her heirs for so long as the land is used for farming, then to Bill and his
heirs
