Hal 76 no. 15 :
As you stand on a floor, does the floor exert an upward force againts your feet? How much
force does it exert? Why are you not moved upward by this force?
Jawab:
Yes, the floor exerts an upward-directed normal force, or support force, against my feet.
Because I am at rest, and not accelerating in the vertical direction, this force exactly counters
the downward force on me, which is due to the gravitational force on me, i.e. my weight.
That is, the floor exerts a force exactly equal to my weight, in the upward direction. I am not
moved upward by this force because the net force on me is zero the upward force from the
floor and the downward gravitational force exactly cancel.

Hal 76 no. 19 :
Two 100-N weights are atteched to a spiring scale as shown. Does the scale read 0, 100, or
200 N, or give some other reading? (Hint: Would it read any differently if one of the rospes
were tied to the wall instead of to the hanging 100-N weights?)
Jawab :
100 N

Hal 78 no. 3 :
If you stand next to a wall on a frictionless skateboard and push the wall with a force of 30
N, how hard does the wall push you? If your mass is 60 kg, whats your acceleration?
Jawab :
30 N

Hal 135 no. 3 :

Does the rotational inertia of an object differ for different axes of rotation ?
Jawab :
Yes

FISIKA UMUM

Hal 135 no. 4 :

Why do people with long legs generally walk with a slower stride than people with short
legs?
Jawab :
Because people with long legs have a smaller inertia than people with short legs.

Hal 135 no. 7 :

What is meant by the lever arm of a torque?
Jawab :
Distance between the force sources and rotation point.

Hal 135 no. 8 :

In what direction should a force be applied to produce maximum torque?
Jawab :
At longest lever arm with 90 between force direction and lever arm.

Hal 135 no. 9 :

How do clockwise and counter clockwise torques compare when a system is a balanced?
Jawab :
Clockwise torque has equal value with counterclockwise torque.

Hal 135 no. 11 :

Where is the center of mass of a baseball? Where is its center of a grafity? Where are these
centers for a baseball bat?
Jawab :
At middle of the baseball. At the center of the earth. At the middle of the bat and center of the
diameter.

Hal 135 no. 12 :

If you hang at rest by your hands from a vertical rope, where is your center of gravity with
respect to the rope?

FISIKA UMUM

Jawab :
At middle of the hand.

Hal 135 no. 14 :

What is a relationship between center of gravity and support base base for an object in
atable equilibrium?
Jawab :
Center aligned.

Hal 135 no. 17 :

In terms of center of gravity, support base, and torque, why can you not stand with heels
and back to a wall and the bend over to touch your toes and return to your stand-up
position?
Jawab :
Because the center of gravity moves into outer body and not aligned with support base, which can
cause a force applied and give the body an unbalance torque. The body will fall to the front since the
torque result direction is to the front.

Hal 135 no. 18 :

When you whirl a can at the end of a string in a circular path, what is the direction of the
force that a exerted on the can?
Jawab :
Into another end of the string that we hold.

Hal 135 no. 19 :

Is it an inward force or an outward force that id exerted on the clothes during the spin cycle
of an automatic washer?
Jawab :
Inwards.

FISIKA UMUM

Hal 135 no. 20 :

If the string breaks that holds whirling can in its circural path, what kind of force causes it to
move in straight-line path centripental, centrifugal, or no force? What law of physics
supports your answer?
Jawab :
No force. Newtons first law of motion.

Hal 135 no. 23 :

Why is centrifugal force in a rotating frame called a fictitious force?
Jawab :
Because actually the centripetal force drove the object into the center of spin but object hold their
position which make the object seems pushed outwards.
