The New Cat Modular Power Plant Offers 12-Day Installation Period
PEORIA, IL Caterpillar Inc. today announced that new Cat Modular Power Plants can be
installed in just 12 days per unit. The two-year development, aimed at reducing installation
time, maintains power generation reliability and sustainability through proven Cat power
solutions and products for mining, heavy and light industry, oil and gas, and electric utility
applications.

The modular energy solution

Each modular power plant is a complete, location-independent system in which all components
are prepared for quick installation without the need for on-site welding. Even in locations with
limited infrastructure, the modules are delivered to the installation site ready to assemble and
prepared to run, making precision assembly easy to achieve.

With the increasing importance of distributed power generation in many countries, this product
is a natural complement in providing energy, both electricity and heat, at any location. The
power plant is fully suitable for continuous and intermittent use and can provide fast ramp up
times when required.

Efficiency across the board

Each module is equipped with the well-established Cat CG260-16 generator set providing an
output up to 4.3 MWel of power per unit, which can be reliably deployed in all natural gas and
biogas applications. The CG260-16 is designed for the highest electrical and thermal
efficiency, low operating and service costs, as well as high reliability and availability. More
than 580 power generators with some 2,170,000 kWel of power have already been installed in
various applications worldwide.

Location-independent with flexible scalability
Each Cat Modular Power Plant can be expanded to include up to six modular units, delivering
a rated output of up to 25.8 MWel of power. Additionally, these highly efficient, decentralized
and mobile power generation modules provide an overall efficiency of over 86% in natural gas
operation.
