Scientific Software Package SCI

for M Lab Electrochemical Workstations

SCI is an extended software package for use with the electrochemical workstation M Lab. It is able to control
multiples of cells independently even for complex tasks.

SCI includes:
Repetitions (cycling) of tasks
Task lists piling up to 80 tasks per channel (e.g.: pre - polarisation, triangle sweep , post polarisation)

Conditioned end of a task, switching over to the next, controlled by 2 conditions out of 4
end if potential >= (or <=) limit
end if current >= (or <=) limit
end if charge >= (or <=) limit
end if time >= limit value
Two conditions may be connected by either AND or OR. For
each task, separate conditions may be chosen.
Start with previous potential
If you want to start a scan from rest potential, click the check
box start condition
Halt condition
This condition shall meet absolute emerency conditions. If the
condition is met, the cell is switched off immediately.
Trigger
A conditioned trigger can be used to switch external devices.
Output 0V/5V. Currently the second channel is not available when the external trigger is used.
Direct data export to MS Excel (.XLS) now from the data panel
Separated data storage for chained tasks using automated name extensions

New Scope functions

The scope screen is a sub - function of the cell check mode, allowing
to trace potential and current at the settings of cell check to analyse
possible cell problems, or just to estimate the optimal time settings
for a transient measurement.

Software Watchdog
Option watchdog controls the data flow. This option is helpful for
longtime polarization, where a break in the data flow may happen.
The software watchdog is now part of the SCI software package.

Hardware Watchdog
The hardware watchdog watches the potential of the electrodes
independent of the software. If the potential exceeds a preset limit it
immediately disconnects the counter electrode. This option is
valuable for long-term polarization, when e.g. a fading or
disconnection in the electrolyte bridge sets the potential control out of
operation.

Other Features
XY-plots following European or American plot style
Second data sets can be added to the plot by concatenation
(addition of the second data set to the first one), or as an
overlay using another colour.
Tafel lines are calculated automatically, manual correction is
possible. From the Tafel lines, the corrosion rate can be
displayed (the set of metals used for this calculation is
editable).
Potentials can be referred to other reference electrodes.
Currents can be plotted as current densities.
Both averaging and median filtering can be applied to the
data.
The data storage follows GLP. You decide whether to save
raw data only or after the raw data have been saved, also
the smoothed or filtered data.
