This course is designed for anyone with a basic knowledge of French who wants a
fast, easy way of boosting his or her vocabulary and grammar to the point where
everyday communication is possible. This level 3 course does assume that you hav
e the vocabulary and grammar up to the level covered in the level 1 and 2 course
s. If you find that you have not reached this level when you use the present lev
el 3 course, you should go over levels 1 and 2.
The Linkword courses have been carefully designed to teach you an extensive voca
bulary and a basic grammar in a simple step-by-step way that anyone can follow.
Levels 1 and 2 teach a basic standard of French grammar as well as an extensive
vocabulary. However, levels 3 and 4 French take both vocabulary and grammar to a
much higher level.
This level 3 course is ideal, therefore, for the holidaymaker or business person
who, having completed levels 1 and 2 Linkword French, wants to take their under
standing of French vocabulary and grammar to a more advanced level.
The course is also an ideal supplement to school and college work. Many students
feel that they remember words for the first time when introduced to the Linkwor
d system, and understand basic grammar for the first time too. Finally, this cou
rse is ideal for those who have learned French at school or college some time ag
o but who are now rusty. Linkword is an ideal revision course, covering much of
the vocabulary and grammar you learned (or should have learned!) at school or co
llege in a quick and painless way, so that it will all come flooding back.

HOW TO USE LINKWORD FRENCH LEVEL 3
You will be presented with words like this:
The French for TABLECLOTH is NAPPE
Imagine having a NAP on a TABLECLOTH
After you have read the image you should think about it in your mind's eye for a
bout 10 seconds before moving on to the next word. If you do not spend enough ti
me thinking about the image it will not stick in your memory as well as it shoul
d.
Sometimes the word in French and in English is the same or very similar. For exa
mple, the French for 'taxi' is 'taxi'. When this happens you will he asked to as
sociate the word in some way with the Eiffel Tower.
Imagine a taxi driving into the Eiffel tower. Whenever the Eiffel tower comes to
mind therefore, you will know the word is the same or similar in both English a
nd French.
The sentence examples given in the course may well strike you as silly and bizar
re. They have deliberately been given in this way to show up points of grammar a
nd to get away from the idea that you should remember useful phrases 'parrot fas
hion'. However, during the course, some 'sensible' sentence examples are given t
o show you how easy it is to use your knowledge in real life, everyday situation
s.
