Multimedia Writing and Rhetoric Reflection

Multimedia Writing and Rhetoric this semester has allowed me to share my writing
through different mediums and has permitted me to mature as a writer. This portfolio that I have
created, demonstrates my understanding of writing as a process because it shows all of the work
I did prior to writing by exposing the research, blog assignments, finished work and the revisions
of my completed essays. My process-oriented composition skills are evident in my blog posts,
my reflections and the scripts for the papers I have completed in this course. By completing this
course I think my writing process evolved tremendously throughout the term because before this
course I barely wrote outlines for my papers, I would just sit down and start typing and now I
really enjoy doing the pre-writing exercises because the make the actual writing of the paper
easier. This evolution is reflected in my portfolio by my reflections and revisions.
Before this class I would just read through the comments that a teacher would make and I
would try to apply corrections to my next paper, but now with the written reflections I believe
that it is easier to apply corrections and cut down on future mistakes in my writing and writing
process. This portfolio also demonstrates my understanding the evolution of my rhetoric and
argumentation skills because this course forced me to use argumentation in my research paper
and in my rhetorical analysis to argue a claim. My rhetoric was developed in my audio essay and

my TED talk because in both I had to working on my speaking skills and my voice inflections
and all of the components of public speaking that we worked on in class. The principles of
rhetoric and argumentation are most evident in my TED talk because I argue that gender-specific
toys are negative because they are likely to be gender-stereotyped and I present this argument in
an oral presentation to the class.
The purpose of each assignment was to enhance a specific skill. The TED talk was to
enhance our oral presentation skills along with using images to portray a message. The audio
narrative was to work on our storytelling skills and making our voice sound interesting. The
research essay was used to help improve our research skills and should us all of the research
resources and materials available through the library for future use and the rhetorical analysiss
purpose was to allow us to better understand rhetoric and to be able to view and analyze rhetoric
features in media and in texts. I really enjoyed this course and it was nice to put together a
portfolio to reflect on all of the work I have completed in this course. It was also nice to edit,
revise and polish some of our works before the semester was over. For my portfolio I added the
new revised version of my rhetorical analysis, I polished the script for my audio essay, I wrote a
reflection for my TED talk and I briefly made some edits to my research paper and added a new
and improved. I hope you enjoy my portfolio because it proves how much I have grown and
learned so from this course.
