Brochure
Description: I created a brochure for a

fabricated hotel called The Beachside Hotel.

Date: Dec. 6, 2014

Course/Instructor: Visual Media/Joel
Judkins

Process: I set up the folds and dimensions

in InDesign. I chose photos from different
hotel websites for the outside and inside of
my brochure. The outside of the brochure
is a photo of a bed with a logo. The sides
are photos of wood paneling to represent
the legs of the bed when it is standing up.
The inside of my brochure contains four
photos. I cropped and edited all the photos
in Photoshop.

Objectives: Learn how to make a

brochure using Adobe InDesign, Adobe

Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

WEB PAGE
Description: This Web page is

designed for Thats a Wrap Gift

Wrapping Company. The body text
describes my logo and what I am trying
to communicate to my audience.

Date: Nov. 23, 2014

Course/Instructor: Visual Media/
Joel Judkins

Process: For this project, I used

Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

and Text Wrangler. I used Illustrator to
make adjustments to my logo and text
title. I used Photoshop to get the hex
colors for my Web page. I used Text
Wrangler to do the CSS and HTML
coding for the Web page.

Objective: Design a Web page using

HTML and CSS.

FLIER
Description: Black and white flier
designed in Adobe InDesign.

Date: Oct. 5, 2014

Course/Instructor: Visual Media/Joel
Judkins

Process: I first created four different

sketches of my ideas. Once I chose one I

thought would be the best, I began to lay it
out in Adobe InDesign.

Objective: Design a flier for a leadership

conference using Adobe InDesign.

EVENT AD
Description: This event ad was

created for a fabricated event. The

event was a baking fireside, or group
gathering involving baking and learning
how to bake with others. The quote Be
the baker you want to see in the ward,
was inspired by Gandhis quote, Be the
change you want to see in the world. A
ward is a church branch.

Date: Oct. 11, 2014

Course/Instructor: Visual Media/
Joel Judkins

Process: I scanned the image of

the cookies on the plate and saved it as

a JPEG. I then dragged it into a Word
document and created two boxes at the
bottom of the ad for body copy and
time, date and place text. I had a slogan/
catchphrase in mind, so I put that in the
middle of the image and put a transparent
box behind the text so it would show up.

Objective: Create a color full-bleed

event ad created in Microsoft Word using

only a scanned image.

Be the baker you want

to see in the ward.

LOGOS
Description: Three logos designed
specifically for my film review blog.

Date: Nov. 1, 2014

Course/Instructor: Visual Media/Joel
Judkins

Process: I first brainstormed different

business names or possible combinations

of words that would challenge me in
making a logo. I eventually decided that
I would make a logo for my own film
review blog. I sketched out different
ideas I had for logos and started to

design them in Illustrator. After asking

people what they thought of my deigns,
I eventually got rid of one of them and
started over, creating the 2nd logo youll
see.

Objective: Design three logos solely in

Adobe Illustrator.

MONTAGE
Description: Montage design with

spiritual message using Adobe Photoshop.

Date: Oct. 25, 2014

Course/Instructor: Visual Media/Joel
Judkins

Process: I designed a photo montage

in Adobe Photoshop using photos from

www.lds.org. Before I started my design, I
had a quote in mind that I wanted to use
as the focus of my montage. The phrase
in the midst of them meant to me that I
needed to put Jesus Christ in the picture.
I used the mask tool to make the image of
Christ opaque and blend well into the other

photo. The text was difficult for me to make

visible, so I used a shadow behind it, using
the same color as the grass.

Objective: Learn how to use masks in

Photoshop.

PHOTODESIGN
Description: This design was focused on
color schemes. I used the quote, Be strong
enough to stand alone, because I thought
the lady bug alone on the flower illustrated
that quote.

Date: Oct. 18, 2014

Course/Instructor: Visual Media/Joel
Judkins

Process: I first chose a photo that I had

taken for the assignment that had a color

scheme I liked. I made sure the photo
was taken with good lighting and focus
on my subject. I used a point and shoot
camera and Photoshop. In Photoshop, I
used the basic editing techniques of levels,
sharpness, saturation and color balance. I
created a design in Photoshop around my
photo and found a color scheme I could
work with.

Objective: Implement photography skills

and the use of color schemes to create one
image.
