Program Description: Are you aware of all the library services and resources available to
homeschoolers of all ages? Find out how Thurmont Library can be an important partner in
your homeschool programming as we explore library resources and how to utilize them in
your everyday learning. This program will feature a special presentation, which will include
a library orientation tour, on-line databases, research materials, hands-on activities,
booklists and much more.
You and your families will discover how our library system can provide you with the
resources and experiences to form the foundation for an excellent education.
Registration required; please stop by the branch or call to register.
Need for the program: Presently, Homeschoolers of all ages and their parents use the
library as a study space, a resource for book materials and as a place to facilitate group
work. As part of our mission, we provide facilities and an environment, which connects
people to ideas, experiences and information. Our library is an educational resource tool and
can provide Homeschoolers with much, much more. This program will introduce homeschool
families to all our resources including emergent literacy programs, online databases,
curricula support, inter-library loans, STEM, current informational resources and the variety
of educational opportunities provided by our Childrens Department.
Potential Community Partner: This particular program is Library-focused. I would ask our
Youth Services Coordinator or a Childrens Staff Member to give an overview of the libraries
educational and literacy programs.
