BioFil-AL Neutralization and Dilution Tanks

GENERAL INFORMATION
Neutralization is the process w hereby acids and alkalis are rendered harmless. The degree of neutralization can be measured by a system know n as pH
(positive Hydronium ions). The degree of measurement is a pH number of 7, w hich is neutral. Acids range from 0 to 6.99. Alkalis range from 7.01 to 14.
The smaller the number, the higher the content of acidic w aste. The higher the pH number, the higher the alkaline w aste.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS
BioFil-AL Neutralizing and Dilution Tanks are rotationally molded from virgin High Density Polyethylene conforming to ASTM D1248 for Polyolefin materials.
Tanks can be used for service up to 140F. Tops are bolted or fusion w elded to the Engineer's Specification, w ith all fittings made of Polyethylene and
w elded into all penetrations of tanks.
BioFil-AL Neutralizing and Dilution Tanks are designed to receive, dilute, and neutralize corrosive and harmful chemical w astes before allow ing such
material to be discharged into the public sew ers or the environment. Neutralization of corrosive, toxic, and flammable w astes is necessary to the
environment and piping systems. Such w astes can cause physical damage to a buildings piping or outside sew er systems and, if effluent is being
discharged to the environment, severe damage can result to w ildlife and w ater sources.
Tanks are seamless w ith uniform w all thickness and are free of stresses. Can be used for service at 180F in continuous service, or intermittent use of

212F. Tanks are complete w ith cover and can be special ordered in sizes up to 2400 gallon. Limestone chips are being used in numerous applications to
help neutralize chemical bearing w astes.
FEATURES

Maximum Versatility
No Additional Charge For Inlet, Outlet Connections, Custom Vents
Special Custom Connections Available
Fiberglass Reinforced Models Available
MEDIA
Cosmoball media provided in the tanks for biological process enhancement by establishment of effective contact betw een the microorganism and the
organic pollutants in the effluent.
It is recommended that the limestone chips be one to three inches in diameter size range and have a calcium carbonate content in excess of 90%. The
follow ing chart show s approximate limestone usage. In commercial and industrial laboratories the number of lab stations in the table should be divided by
tw o. See chart for recommended limestone usage.

TESTING
BioFil-AL's neutralization tanks must not be pressure tested. Test tank by filling w ith w ater prior to use and inspect for any leaks.
