board. Hold one of the number flashcards e.g. two. The student to circle the correct
number of balls wins a point for his\her team.
Take color flashcards for red, yellow, blue, green and brown; number flashcards from
one to seven. Follow on from the previous game when all the balls on the board
have been circled in groups of 1-7 and with the same teams, G and H. ask one student
from each team to the board. Hold up a color flashcard and a number flashcard e.g. six,
blue and the first student to color any group of six blue balls wins a point for his\her
team.

the words in random order and ask students to listen to you, repeat and point. Ask the class to
read the words without you. Encourage volunteers to read the words.
3. Grammar Articles
T: Today well talk about English Grammar. Well talk about Articles. We put an article before a
word but we cant translate it. Today well talk about articles a and an. Whats the
difference? (Write the articles on the board and the words with them). We put an article a
when a word starts with a consonant for example a bag. But when a word starts with a vowel
sound [a], [e], [i], [o], [u] we put an article an e.g. an apple.
Ask students to look at Ex. 3, listen to you and repeat the words with their articles. Ask students
to read the words without you.
Ask volunteers to explain the difference in usage between articles a and an.
Encourage students to read the words individually.
5. Reading
Ask students to look at Ex.5 in their books. Read the words and students have to repeat them
after you. Ask students to read the words together but without you. Ask students if they can
see any familiar words and translate them. Ask students to put articles a or an before
nouns (write the nouns from this exercise on the board. Ask volunteers to come to the board
and write articles before nouns. The rest of the class checks this activity and corrects mistakes).
Show students flashcards with family members or a poster with a family and ask students to
name the members. Explain the short forms of the words dad=father, mum=mother,
grandpa=grandfather, grandma= grandmother and write the words on the board. Explain I
love my family. Make other sentences starting with I love.
T: I love my family. I love children (show them), I love apples.
S1: I love my family. I like cars
Ask students to listen to the song and follow in their books in Ex.7. Ask students to join in and
dance. Ask groups of students to sing and dance in front of the class.
