9 Key Frames Black on Black

Key Frame 1:

Scenario: The scenario in the picture is the opening to the sequence when the protagonist
Paris is walking out the school gate after school whilst playing a game on his girlfriends
tablet.
Cinematography: I am using an eye level medium long shot is capture the protagonists
clothing and style. The lighting in this shot is clear with no editing or enhancing done to it, so
that the audience will understand that this is normality and that not much really happening
in this scene.
Sound: In this scene there will be non-diegetic background sounds of a slow beating heart to
represent how the protagonists body is reacting to the situation as he begins to slowly
regain consciousness and to create a sense of anxiety to the audience.
Mise-en scene: The costumes in the scene make my character look like a teen that has finish
a day of school; this is because of my costume choice being a black suit with trainers. The
trainers show that he is an informal person and through the actor choice it helps convey
everyday stereotypes to my audience.
Representations: Paris is shown as informal and potentially could be portrayed as sad as he
is by himself hunched over.

Key Frame 2:

Scenario: The scenario in the picture shows the protagonist, Paris, listening to music
unaware of his surroundings. Also in this picture we see a burred out figure in the
background following Paris.
Cinematography: The lighting in this shot is again clear with no editing or enhancing done to
it, so that the audience will understand that this is normality and that not much really
happening in this scene. I have used focus pull to create a sense of unknown as the figure in
the background walking towards Paris is blurry to the audience. I also used focus pull to
draw the attention of the audience to Paris facial expressions.
Sound: In this scene there will be non-diegetic background sounds of a deep tuned melody
to show that something negative is going to happen to the protagonist and that it will most
likely include the figure in the background.
Mise-en scene: The character position in the scene makes my character look more
vulnerable to any sort of threat. In terms of props, the earphones that Paris is wearing
furthers my idea of him blocking out his surroundings
Representations: The longshot of the figure in the background following Paris shows the
distance between the both of them.

Key Frame 3
Scenario: The scenario in the picture is that the antagonist is attempting to mug Paris by
taking the tablet from him.
Cinematography: I am using a medium shot to capture the protagonists and the
antagonists facial expression. The lighting in this shot is clear with no editing or enhancing
done to it. I used a low angled shot to represent that the antagonist is power over the
protagonist.
Sound: In this scene there will be diegetic sound of the antagonist aggressively saying Oi, I
want that! Give it here! And non-diegetic background sounds of a deep toned melody to
represent the reaction to the situation.
Mise-en scene: The prop of the tablet is important to the protagonist as it is his girlfriends
Representations: Paris is represented as scared and anxious because of the antagonist
stopping him and grabbing the tablet. The antagonist becomes clear to Paris the protagonist

Key Frame 4

Scenario: Here we see the antagonist gain the possession of tablet and Paris is clearly
reacting negatively.
Cinematography: Here I have used a medium long shot showing Paris being visibly annoyed
or frustrated with the antagonist stealing the tablet from him. I had the camera positions at
eye level to allow the best view of the action going on the scene. The shot is also a two shot
showing everything that I believe is important for the audience to focus on.
Sound: There will be diegetic sound of the cars and the other sounds of the area so that the
audience will be able to hear what the characters can here. This will further the engagement
of the audience to the two characters.
Mise-en scene: The costume, being the coat that the antagonist is wearing is still covering
his face making his identity still a mystery. The prop, being the tablet is also significant
because it now shows that Paris has lost the possession of it.
Representation: This scenario represents the loss of the item on Paris behalf. The medium
longshot Shows that the antagonist is towering over the protagonist this represents that the
antagonist has more power over Paris

Key Frames 5

Scenario: The protagonist and antagonist are arguing but the antagonist is just staring at him blankly
as if he isnt listening to his argument.
Cinematography: I am using a low angled medium close up from behind the protagonists shoulder
because it captures the antagonists facial expressions. The low angled shot shows the antagonist to
have more power than Paris
Sound: In this scene there will be non-diegetic background sound of a deep toned melody that is
slowly getting faster to create a sense of anxiety to the audience.
Mise-en scene: The location is important in this scenario as in the background of the shot there are
people standing around this is important because it shows that people may not be willing to help
this teen because of his background.
Representations: The antagonist is represented as powerful in comparison to Paris

Key Frame 6

Scenario: The scenario in the picture shows Paris trying to snatch the tablet back.
Cinematography: I am using an eye level medium long shot showing both the protagonist and
antagonist so that I am able to capture the variety of movements present in the scene.
Sound: In this scene there will be non-diegetic background sounds of a fast tempo to create even
more tension for the audience
Mise-en scene: The costumes in the scene are important as my protagonist is wearing a black suit
whereas the antagonist is wearing an informal jacket.
Representations: The antagonist is represented as powerful in comparison to the protagonist.

Key Frame 7

Scenario: The scenario in the picture is that the antagonist is about to punch Paris in the face.
Cinematography: I am using a cantered point of view so that the audience can empathise with Paris.
The POV will put the audience in the shoes of Paris.
Sound: In this scene there will be no sound in this scenario as it will represent the lack of life left in
Paris.
Mise-en scene: The location is important as the background shows houses in the background. This is
important because the neighbourhood but when the punch is thrown it is a disruption to the
neighbourhood
Representations: Paris is shown to be weak or of less power than the antagonist as he is looking up
towards him.

has his fingers on it. This represents how close he is to get what he wants.
Representations: Paris is shown to be weaker than the antagonist through the use of the low angled
shot.

Sound: In this scene there will be no sound

but they seem much further away.
Representations: The relationship between the protagonist and antagonist is shown to be distant
through the low angled shot.
