Aim: To make students familiar with will function- about possible future action.
Objective:

Students should be able to talk about possibility in future in their normal


conversation.

Students should be able to use will with if clause in sentences.

Aids: Whiteboard, chart, board marker, worksheets, pictures


Procedure:
Warm-up: (5 min)
Students will be shown pictures pasted on white board. They will be elicited regarding
the pictures. For example, they will see a picture of a doctor, and then will be asked If
you become a doctor, what will you do? Some other examples with some pictures will
be, If you become a pilot, what will you do? If you go to Murree, where will you
stay? If you become a teacher, where will you teach?
Presentation stage: (10 min)
Students will be given introduction to the first conditional with If clause that is possible
future action with explicit example. A comprehensible dialogue will be presented which
would highlight the function that is being taught.
Form: If+ simple present+ will+ verb
Example: If you hurry, you will catch the bus.

Practice stage: (15-25 min)


Controlled activities:
Activity 1:
Students will be given a worksheet. This worksheet contains some sentences with blanks.
Students have to fill in the blanks with appropriate answers using the words in bracket. .
Activity 2:
A worksheet will be given to students in which sentences are written with prompts
(phrases). They will write the correct sentence by the help of these prompts, the If
clause structure and main clause.
Activity 3
Students will be given a worksheet in which sentence will be scrambled. They have to
use their knowledge of the structure will and if to rewrite the correct sentence.
Semi-control activity:
Activity 4
Students are asked to solve the worksheet. The worksheet consists of half sentences of
if clauses. Students will complete the other half of the sentence by putting the main
clause of their own choice.
Production stage: (10 min)
Activity 5
A context with pictures will be given to the students from which they will build up their
own story by using if clause and main clause.

Write a story using If and main clause beginning with one of the sentences below and show it in the next lesson:
