Present state of conciousness


1. Look (Become aware of shapes, colors, dimensionality)
2. Listen (Be aware of the diverse pitches and stuff in the environment)
3. Feel (Be aware of what you touch: texture, weight, pain, heat, cold, etc.)
4. Taste (Be aware of what it is like to taste)
5. Smell (Be aware of what it is like to taste: food, substances, etc.)
6. Breathing (Deliberately take slow breaths, control breathing)
7. Emotions (How do emotions feel? Anger, sadness, happiness, anxiety)
8. Thoughts (What were you thinking about during this exercise?)
9. I (Contextualize your world in terms of I [I see, I do])
10. Become aware of your awareness

Setting up a dream journal


1. Keep a dream journal (Record and collect dreams)
2. Catalog your dreams (Mark dreamsigns)
3. Classify each dreamsign using the inventory (available on page 46)
4. Pick the target dreamsign
5. Practice said dreamsign in reality (observe how it functions)

Goal Setting
1. Set explicit, specific and numeric goals
2. Set difficult but reasonable goals
3. Set short range and long range goals
4. Keep track of accomplished goals

Progressive relaxation and 61 pt


1. Lie down on a firm surface
2. Attend to your breathing
3. Progressively tense and relax each muscle group
4. Release tension

Power of resolution technique


1. Day practice- Under all conditions, think that everything is a substance of dreams.
2. Night practice- Firmly resolve that you will comprehend the dream state

Intention Technique
1. Resolve to recognize dreaming- affirm that you will recognize the dream state
2. Visualize yourself recognizing that you are dreaming.
3. Imagine carrying out a dream action (like flying)

Tholeys combined Reflection Intention Technique


1. Plan when you intend to test your state. Use imagery!
2. Test your state look for inconsistencies, that might indicate you are dreaming.
Think back to events, read text twice.
3. Imagine yourself in the dream state/dreaming with all the sensory information.
4. Imagine what you want to do when you are in your dream.

Notes

Critical Testing Technique


1. You must do the critical test at least 5-10 times a day
2. Plan when to test your state Debate, newspaper, friends, when studying or
thinking about dreaming
3. Ask Am I dreaming right now? Be meticulous with said question and try to think
back to past events. You cant? Then you probably dreaming.
4. A good technique is to look at a page of text, then turn away, then see if the text is
still there.

My goals
1. 1 lucid dream by end of break
2. Record 13 dreams
3. Do dream exercises each day
4. Do a reality check 8 times a day (Will do more counting once I get to that point)
5. Test critical question every time I eat.
