Case Background : dynamo Industries Is a medium sized manufacturer of small electrical motors
headquartered in St. Paul , Minnesota. The firm employs 9,800 employees. They have plants at various
places. But the Pittsburg Plant has been facing issues like high production costs, higher no. of grievances,
work slowdown and de-motivated workforce. Hence the most recent plant manager was asked to leave.
Dynamo Industries is now looking to hire a new plant manager for Pittsburg Plant. It has already done
the through screening and used several expensive selection devices after which, the list of candidates
has been reduced to 8. Now the task is to select 1 out of these eight.

Job Description : The Plant Manager reports to the Vice President (Production).He will be
responsible for the operating efficiency of the plant. He should be good at people management and also
should posses a good knowledge about the production methods and capabilities of equipments. He will
also be directly or indirectly involved in procuring materials , maintain the plant , controlling quality,
establishing budgets, establishing safety regulations, and union management and contract negotiation.

Required candidate Profile : As the Plant is facing 2 major issues in terms of higher production
costs & poor worker relations, the candidate must possess excellent intra-personal skills as well
knowledge on production process and management techniques.
Secondly , promoting a candidate within ranks will definitely be an advantage as it signals about the
opportunities of personal growth for employees .
