Task 1: Correct the mistakes in the following sentences and explain why it is wrong (as if you were
explaining it to a student).
a) I havent got no brothers.
b) There is a milk in the fridge.
c) What do you do last Saturday?
d) Im knowing him very well.
Task 2: Imagine you are doing a lesson on the Present perfect and a student doesnt understand the
difference between the Past simple and the Present perfect.
Explain what you would say to the student including examples where necessary.
Task 3: For the following situations, indicate how you would respond by adding the words YES
or NO after each response. Furthermore, if you have written YES after a sentence,
briefly explain why you think this is a good idea.
Situation 1: A student asks you a question and you are not sure what the answer is.
What would you do?
Leave the class and ask another teacher for a quick explanation.
Tell the students that you will discuss it later or next lesson.
Spend about half an hour before the lesson going through the lesson plan.
Go through each exercise/ activity to see if you know all the answers.

Read the following piece of writing.
Underline the errors.
Correct them.
Choose two errors - say why you think they occurred
- suggest one possible way of helping them.
4. Learning English
Think about your own experience as a language learner at school or elsewhere and /
or your experience of helping people to learn English. What problems do you think
learners are likely to have with the English language? Write about 200 words. Your
answer could comment on some of the following: tenses, vocabulary, pronunciation,
spelling, word order and meaning.
