FOR TWO PIANOS

This debut concert of Music For Two Pianos, performed by acclaimed pianists
Natalie Tenenbaum and Julian Waterfall Pollack, will feature not only music written by both
musicians but also works by John Adams, The Goo Goo Dolls, Steve Reich, and Johny Mandel.
The eclectic all-American program was drawn together by the performers love of great music,
regardless of genre. In addition to the demanding written material on the program, some of the
pieces call for the two pianists to improvise. All of the music featured in this concert was
written between 1978 and 2013 on American soil.

Julian Waterfall Pollack (b. 1988)

Pianist and composer Natalie Tenenbaum has


appeared as soloist and with orchestras across Israel,
Europe, Asia and the US, performing in venues such as
Lincoln Center, Koreas National Theater, Jerusalem
Music Center, the Kennedy Center, Berlins
Konzerthaus. An avid performer of new music,
Tenenbaum premiered Tomer Addadis Piano
Concerto No. 1 in 2011 with the Israel Chamber
Orchestra, and gave an invigorating sparkling
performance (New York Times) of Jason Eckardts
Piano Concerto, Trespass, that same year. Graduate of
the Juilliard School, Natalie premiered her own
compositions at Carnegie Hall, Harvard University,
Merkin Hall, The National Arts Gallery (New York), Tel
Aviv Museum Of Art, The Blue Note. Natalie is a
recipient of scholarships from the America-Israel
cultural foundation as well as Ronen Foundation. She
is a winner of the 2012 Harrington Award and the
2013 Jean Banks Award (BMI).


At the age of 18, pianist and composer Julian Waterfall
Pollack was awarded the Level One Gold Prize in jazz
from the National Foundation for the Advancement of
the Arts' (NFAA), received a full-ride scholarship to
Berklee College of Music, was signed to Jazzschool
Records for his debut album, and was featured on
Marian McPartlands syndicated NPR show Piano Jazz.
A graduate of the NYU Steinhardt masters program,
Pollack has performed his own Piano Concerto
(commissioned and premiered by the Camellia
Symphony Orchestra) with The Jackson Symphony
Orchestra, The Mendocino Music Festival orchestra,
and this year, the Telluride Chamber Festival and The
Ives Quartet commissioned and premiered Pollacks
String Quartet. Receiving an ASCAP Young Jazz
Composers award for his composition Blackberry,
Julians sophomore album Infinite Playground received
accolades with comments ranging from "ferociously
assured and creatively dazzling," to "masses of heart
and soul, adding an emotional intensity that lifts this
music to uncommon heights..." (San Francisco
Chronicle). In October, Pollack's latest trio album
Waves of Albion was released on the German label
Berthold Records and has been garnering glowing
reviews internationally. Emerging, young, and
poiseda pianist with an earnest air, writes Nate
