A PCB used for data transfer control between disk drives and cache memory;
same as ACP

CHA

A PCB used for data transfer control between the host and cache memory;
same as CHIP

DKC

Disk Controller Unit

DKU

Disk Cabinet Unit

HDD

Hard Disk Drive

HDU

Hard Disk Unit A canister that holds the HDDs

SVP

Service Processor

Cache
memory

Very high speed memory that is used to speed I/O transaction time; all reads
and writes to the array are sent to the cache

Shared
memory

Shared memory is a portion of cache memory used for control of the array,
rather than for data I/O

RAID

Redundant array of inexpensive disks

The left-side cabinets (as viewed from the front) are referred to as racks onezero, one-one, and one-two, rather than racks ten, eleven, and
twelve.
Although it is possible to cable the array so that racks 10, 11, and 12 are on
the right (as viewed from the front), that configuration would not be supported.

Array Overview
Note that the DKCs are 1U larger than the DKUs.
There are up to 8 DKUs per DKC. Each DKU features up to 64 drives in front
and 64 drives in back, for up to 1024 drives per DKC.
There are only two cable lengths: one for DKU0 to DKU01 (for example, and
one for DKU01 to DKU02 (for example).
