Customer Identification Procedure

The Customer Identification Procedures are to be carried at the following stages:


While establishing a banking relationship, e.g.: account opening.
For existing customers- if any doubt/suspicion arises.
Periodic customer identification data (including photograph/s) are to be updated at least once in
ten years in case of low risk category customers, not less than once in eight years in case of
medium risk category customers and not less than once in two years in case of high risk
category customers.
Customer Identification will also be carried out in respect of non-account holders approaching
bank for one-off transactions. E.g.: RTGS, Forex, etc
Customer Identification to be done for all money changing activities.

Any Identity Proof with current address will serve as a proof of identity as well as address.
If the identity proof submitted by the customer is having the address same as that declared
by him/her in the account opening form, the document will be accepted by the Bank as a
valid proof of both identity and address. If the address indicated on the document
submitted for identity proof differs from the current address mentioned in the account
opening form, a separate proof of address (as per address list mentioned below) should be
produced.

16.In respect of officials of Central/State Governments and
Public Sector Undertakings, who are low risk customers for
Bank, branch heads may verify the photo /identity and
confirm residential address of such officials from
independently verifiable sources, to their satisfaction ,and
permit opening of accounts. The facility is extended only to
the Gazetted Officers of Central/State Government and
Senior Management and above functionaries of Public Sector
Undertakings.

I. 2. Small Deposit (No Frills) Account


Documents (any one)
For prospective customers at villages, Kisan Bahi/
Kisan Passbook, issued by the Revenue authorities

officer of the State Govt.

Restrictions (all)
The aggregate of all credits in a financial year
does not exceed rupees one lakh.

The balance at any point of time does not exceed


rupees fifty thousand.

Small account shall remain operational initially


for a period of twelve months, and thereafter for
a further period of twelve months if the holder of
such an account provides evidence of having
applied for any of the officially valid Documents,
to be reviewed after twenty four months.
Foreign remittance shall not be allowed to be
credited into a small account.

Notwithstanding anything contained above, an individual who desires to open a small account may
be allowed to open such an account on production of a self-attested photograph and affixation of
signature or thumb print, as the case may be, on the a/c opening form.
Minors

If minor is less than 10 years of age, ID proof of the person who


will operate the account is obtained.
In cases where minor can operate the account independently, KYC
procedure for identification/address verification as in the case of
any other individual would apply.

issued to the proprietary concern by the office of DGFT
as an identity document for opening of the bank account
etc.
6.The complete Income Tax return (not just the
acknowledgement) in the name of the sole proprietor
where the firm's income is reflected, duly authenticated/
acknowledged by the Income Tax Authorities.

7.Utility bills such as electricity, water, and landline


telephone bills in the name of the proprietary concern.
Any two of the above documents would suffice.
These documents should be in the name of the
proprietary concern.
