Kneeling in the End Zone: Spiritual Lessons From the World of Sports
Basketball great Bill Russell said that sports are one of the "Big Four." "Only four kinds of events—
politics, religion, the arts, and sports—have been able to draw consistently large crowds of paying
customers throughout history," he said. "That must mean something." It must. People care about sports.
They talk about Saturday's games during Sunday school and cut out of worship early so that they won't
miss Sunday's kickoff. This workshop doesn't condone skipping out on worship, but it does use sports as
a lens through which to look at the Christian faith. It uses sports as a metaphor, drawing parallels
between scriptural stories and memorable tales from the field or court, and looks at those transcendent
moments in sports history that reveal larger truths about life.

Jesus Went the Distance

What if he had prayed, “They will be done” but really did not mean it? What if Jesus had stopped and
only prayed over the city and not gone in? What if Jesus had not gone the distance? Would we still call
Him Savior? The question to each one of us is “Can we follow Him the whole distance?”

Can’t We All Get Along?: Conflict among Christians
“As long as there have been people there have been conflicts. And since Christians are people, too, it is
no surprise that even disciples of Jesus Christ butt heads, argue, and become divided. Come take a look
at some of the roots of conflict and some biblically-anchored ways of getting our heads together.”
Presenter: Bryan Brooks Room: Mirabella D

The Pilgrim’s Way: Thinking about pilgrimage as individuals, communities, and ministries.
We are a pilgrim people because we have hearts that will never rest; never be satisfied; never be
complete until we find the God who is at the core of all we desire and seek through this life. In addition,
this “life is a journey that we must travel with a deep consciousness of God”. (From the first letter of
Peter, Message translation).
Been thinking about how cool it might be to make a pilgrimage overseas to some “holy” places?
Been thinking about how cool it might be to take a group of young people or adults on that pilgrimage?
How a mission trip, lock-in, retreat, ski-trip, or even a Sunday night gathering might be more like a
pilgrimage than an event? On the other hand, how there must be a better way to live than racing through
the day at 80 mph? Then come for some conversation about The Pilgrim’s Way, an approach to mission
trips, retreats, weekly gatherings, and life as well as those intentional journeys that have traditionally
been called pilgrimage. Everyone is a pilgrim therefore anyone can make and lead a pilgrimage no
matter what its shape.

Do you feel like your parents don't understand you? Do you avoid talking with them because it seems
they don't listen to you? Do you feel like they don't trust you and are always on your back? Do you wish

Session I: God’s Plan – The Ultimate Sex Life

Session II: Under Pressure – Why is it so hard to say “no?”
The goal of this course is to help young people understand that their sexuality is a gift from God. Our
Creator has a plan for each person He created. He has planned out the sum of our days before even one
of them came to be. In Jeremiah 29:11, His word says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares
the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Our purpose
is to lead young people to the truth that God’s plan includes our sexuality, and to help them come to the
conclusion on their own that saving sex for marriage is the best choice for them spiritually, emotionally,
and physically.

SAFE for YOUth and ME

into a potentially devastating situation. When youth are left at risk, then the youth worker is endangered

you reduce the risk to yourself and to your youth.
