WRESTLING NEWS AND COMMENTARY by DENNIS MILLER
WWF NEWS: SHANE DOUGLAS has apparently told WWF officials he
is not interested in the MNR color job. I believe Douglas teaches
school in Pittsburgh during the week . . . Each one of LT'S pro team
will receive about thirty grand for the WrestleMania show . . . LEX
LUGER will face TATANKA in a strap match at WrestleMania . . .
ALUNDRA BLAZE will face BULL NAKANO at WrestleMania . . . TED
DIBIASE is now managing KAMA . . . THE UNDERTAKER will face KING
KONG BUNDY at WrestleMania . . . JESSE VENTURA told a Florida
newspaper he has no desire to return to wrestling as a color
commentator. Ventura also said he never talked with the WWF about
the MNR job . . .
WCW NEWS: Rumor has it that THE FOUR HORSEMEN will ride again
in WCW. The lineup will most likely be RIC FLAIR, ARN ANDERSEN,
STEVE AUSTIN and probably VADER. TULLY BLANCHARD and DUSTIN RHODES
are long shots . . . HH will not be a part of the June PPV . . .
Vader drew blood on HH at the Chicago house show. There were several
Japanese photographers in attendance and even though Vader lost by
count out, drawing blood on HH enhances Vader's reputation in Japan
. . . Vader's manager HARLEY RACE will get a big cash settlement
from the hospital which dropped him on the floor after his hip
replacement surgery which led to part of the operation having to be
done again . . .
MISC. NEWS: Jake Roberts has officially retired from wrestling
apparently to become a preacher . . . Hey Jake, it's not a good idea
to baptize people by DDT'ing them and letting a python crawl across
their face . . . <g>
NEW FRONTIER WRESTLING CAMERON, NC 2/25/95 by TED HOBGOOD
From the Union Pines High School, Attendance: 173
* The Psychotic Samoan, Wa-Chee, pinned Wolverine after hitting him
with a chain to win the United States title at 12:00.
--Pretty good match. Turning point comes when Wa-Chee ducks a
Wolverine clothesline, which absolutely NAILS the ref. "Bumpmaster:
Billy we call him.
* V-Force (High Voltage and Venom) beat The Super Maniacs after a
top-rope powerbomb and a High Voltage "Megahertz" Moonsault at
6:20.
--This was a squash put on mainly so I could play a joke on my
Japanese friend Takashi. He had to go home the next day, so I
arranged for a couple of our guys to put on some really crazy
looking masks and call themselves the Super Maniacs. I announced
them as being from my friend's hometown in Japan, from the powerful
federation known as Nagano Pro. To really crack my friend up, I even
introduced them *in Japanese*. Takashi was laughing his head off.
After the match (which The Maniacs lost, of course) Taka went up to
High Voltage and said "Do not worry. We will be back." It was
hilarious. Anyway, there was some good doubleteam moves from
V-Force, including a superplex/splash combination, and a
simultaneous powerbomb and legdrop.
* Gale Force and Sub-Zero fought to a 11:30 double countout.
--Gale has some incredible spinning maneuvers off the top. He did a
perfect flying leg lariat that took Sub's head off. Sub-Zero did his
"Flying Frostbite," a swan dive over the top onto his hapless victim

outside the ring.

* The team of Mr. Inferno and the Commando beat The Punisher and The
Black Skull at 11:45.
--The Punisher is a new guy, and has some great facial expressions.
He took a bump over the top when Commando caught him with a spinning
kick.
* TC Flexer beat John Savage for the Intercontinental title, using
Savage's own move, the Savage Neckbreaker, against him after 17:26
of action.
--Savage is just a heat machine. He gets such strong heel reaction,
I'm constantly afraid he's going to get attacked by the crowd.
Nobody gets heat like John Savage. Anywhere. He put on a fantastic
show, and got the advantage throughout the match, since he had to
drop the belt. Savage grabbed a handful of my suit and hurled me
into the stairs so that he could use my chair to batter Flexer.
* Willow the Whisp won an eleven man Ultimate Elimination (similar
to a Royal Rumble) at 28:50. Willow and his tagteam partner, Gale
Force, were the last two men in the ring after they eliminated
Venom. They had a quick conversation, and Gale Force agreed to
eliminate himself. Willow will now face High Voltage for the World
title on March 25th.
--Our battle royales usually suck, but this one was the highlight of
the show. The crowd was hot, hot, HOT! I ended up getting out of my
chair and jumping around, there was so much energy in the house. The
math started off with just Willow and Gale, which is interesting
since they are partners. I really got into telling them they had to
fight it out or be eliminated. One guy would do some fantastic move,
and then the other guy would duplicate it. Really good psychology.
The crowd was counting along with me when I counted down the seconds
until the next wrestler entered the ring. It was really great. The
most incredible move of the evening came when Venom (6'6", 254 lb.),
eliminated Black Skull (NOT a small guy!) by pressing him overhead
with one arm and throwing him out of the ring. Skull wasn't holding
on or anything.
* High Voltage retained the NFWA World belt, pinning Devastator at
26:54 after Wa-Chee accidentally hit Devastator with the title belt.
After the match, Devastator challenged Wa-Chee to defend his
newly-won US title on March 25th.
--OK match. All of Voltage's usual dazzling moves. Moonsaults,
spinning leg-drops off the top rope, one-and-a-half splash, the
works.
Overall, a pretty good evening of wrestling excitement. Our next
show is March 25th in Northmore High School, Robbins, NC. For more
information on the card, the New Frontier Wrestling Alliance, or my
ringwear company, New Frontier Wrestling Gear, contact me at

STATE OF WRESTLING BY Rob AKA Laret@aol.com
Well this week I begun to notice something shocking. People are
actually being suckered in by WCW and this Unsanctioned PPV. Sure
they may claim it's unsanctioned and unauthorized even though the
name WCW is still on the event. They may claim it is uncensored even
though Turner has said that nobody will bleed on a PPV. To sum up,
by all means buy the event if you want to see the matches but not if
you want ECW-like violence because there is no way you are going to
get it. Like Public Enemy said this week "why pay for uncensored when
you can watch ECW for free?"
WWF - Well the LT angle is out of the papers and the tabloid
papers haven't printed any more pictures of Shawn with Pam Anderson.
In fact this is the first time in 2 weeks that the WWF hasn't been
in newspapers (legit or otherwise), or TV news shows. Now no matter

what your personal views are you have to applaud Vince for this.
Although there is a problem. Can WM keep the momentum until April 2?
Will people decide that they cannot afford everything in April (UFC,
WM, Boxing), and have to choose only one? I think that there is no
doubt the numbers will get a boost but Vince could really get huge
numbers if he could remind the casual fan who may have lost interest
to order in April. I'm sure many people saw the LT spots and said
they would order but will they remember? I'd bet on Vince getting LT
on Conan and maybe even Letterman just before WM. That could be the
push they would need to order the PPV.
ECW - The prospect of a 3 way tag match continues ECW's new
policy of exceeding themselves every month at the ECW arena. I hope
they will release every show monthly onto video it's a great idea
which could generate more revenue from home video sales. The problem
is that they are a small organization and show many matches on TV.
This may put some off ordering because they can see some of the
matches on TV. I hope not, the main events are usually withheld and
well worth the cash every month.
Finally for those of you who don't read RSPW I am running a
poll on who should be champ and the greatest match in history. Send
your vote via E-Mail to Laret@aol.com. I think it is an interesting
way to judge opinions of the newsgroups. There are more HH fans out
there than I thought. So far Shawn and Bret are running neck and
neck for WWF Title. Sabu and Benoit for ECW are in a draw. Vader has
only 1 more vote then Hulk Hogan for WCW Title. If you want to
change any of these or vote for other people then send in your
votes. You can vote for any wrestler I have just mentioned the
current leaders but pick whoever you really believe should be
champion. Also send your votes for the greatest match in History.
Razor/Michaels and Flair/Steamboat are the leaders but vote for
whoever you like because they don't have a large lead. Until next
time, Rob AKA Laret@aol.com
FROM THE MIND OF THE MANIAC by "MANIAC" MIKE BLADE
"We're just under a week away from the greatest pay-per-view
event that doesn't really exist." (Add your own impersonation of
professional shill, Gene Okerlund.) This one could become an episode
of "The X-Files", Mulder thinks that it could happen the way it's
being promoted, Scully doubts it. (Nah, even Fox would go that low.)
If the WWFjr hasn't insulted you enough by having Ric Flair job
for That HH Guy . . . by having a dancing Nazi . . . by allowing
Eric Bischoff to single handily destroy any credibility they had
left, then by all means feel free to order "WWFjr Uncensored". Allow
them to walk away with your $25 and have a nice day. (By the way,
"WWFjr Uncensored" is a registered trademark. I have yet to
determine who owns the trademark as the event is Unsanctioned by the
WWFjr and therefore it becomes silly to think they would own a
trademark on something which they disavow.)
The good news, Nick Bockwinkle will not be in the building. Let
me make it clear that I have the highest regard for Mr. Bockwinkle.
His AWA days were some of the best in wrestling history. But some of
the garbage that Bischoff has him spewing is even beneath Jack T
Tunney.
More good news, Alex the Dancing Monkeyboy isn't on the card.
Let me make it clear that someday Alex Wright may be an exciting
wrestler. First, he needs to stop dancing. Then, he needs to get a
tag team partner to show him how to work a match. (Hey, it happened
for Bagwell.)
But I digress . . . more than usual.
This "Uncensored" nonsense proves just how far down the

organization formerly known as WCW has gone. As little as a year

ago, if they had promoted a no-rules, no-holds-barred night of
specialty matches, I would have called my cable company and ordered.
Picture it . . . Flair, Rude, Vader, Austin, et al, in an
authorized shoot night. But that was before a dark cloud of yellow
and red descended over a once proud organization.
In the days of HH, there will be no shooting. He might hurt his
face and destroy what little acting career Ted Turner sees fit to
bestow upon him.
Like Okerlund's ongoing hotline scam, the WWFjr is trying to
separate you from your hard earned money. Who can blame the WWFsr
for promoting WMXI with the line "ask for it by name or you never
know what you're gonna get." Truer words have never been spoken,
even by Pettengill.
Will there be refs. in the ring during most matches? Probably.
(How else can falls count anywhere? No ref., no count, no fall.)
Will there be a broadcast team covering the event, definitely. Sure
sounds like an authorized event to me. And this nonsense that it
will never be seen again, please! There are two showings on the
night of the 19th, a replay on the following Tuesday. You can
pretty much bet on a video release within the next few weeks. If
they don't show excerpts on Saturday Night that just proves that
they're beginning to wise up to marketing a PPV event (AKA - don't
show half the main event on free TV the next weekend.
In selected packs of the new WWFjr trading cards, there will
be coupons for $5 off PPVs. If this is true, then save up five of
them and call your cable company. If you can get it for free, and
you can stomach another three hours of their recent drivel, go for
it.
As for me, there are new episodes of "Star Trek: Voyager,"
"Lois and Clark," and a disease-of-the-week movie that sound a
whole lot better.
PS: I'm still taking your opinions on this question . . .
"Would you buy a borderline pay-per-view if the price were cut in
half? E-Mail your responses to: Maniac1@aol.com. Responses will
appear in a future column, and maybe even do some good with the
powers that be (Ha!).
COUNTING THE RING LIGHTS with MICHAEL TESTA
It's nice to me back. Thanks to everyone here for the RRTV, as
it kept me updated on all events, when I was unable to watch any
wrestling. And thanks MadDog.
McMahon and Ross have done it. Like the LT angle or not, this is
the first time in years that the press has talked about Pro
Wrestling. It free advertising for the WWF. Most of the media are
taking shots at LT for doing this. Most claim wrestling is in no way
athletic. WHAT!
Michaels speech at the WM press conf. was GREAT. He told it like
it was. He took some shots at the press, but the message he got
over, was that he was ready to take the WWF on his back, like Flair
did with the NWA/WCW. Why, because he can.
News of Shane Douglas trying out for the Raw color man, made me
ask myself WHY? Yes he good behind the mic., but what about all this
great wrestler stuff he's been talking about. If goes to the WWF he
should go as a wrestler, and then will see if he is as good as he
says. He claims to carry ECW, but let's see if he can carry the WWF.
Maybe with Michaels, he can.
I saw the new AWF, on TV this past weekend. Although they use
mostly old timers, it's not that bad. The TV looks good, and Terry
Taylor is the color man. They use a round system, which I don't

really follow yet, because I only saw parts of the show. I was
impressed with the amount of weight Sgt. Slaughter lost.
The most recent news about WM, is that Owen Hart and a ? partner
will take on the Gunns. Who could this be? Nobody seems to know, but
the 123 kid is being talked about. Although, anyone, including an
ECW guy, is possible.
The Bob Backlund and Nick Taruntino (NYPD Blue), skit this past
weekend was one of the funniest skits they have done since DiBiase
came in, and was buying everyone.
NOTES FROM THE MAD DOG
Okay, okay, we have an issue to deal with that apparently has
touched a nerve with some of our readers. I didn't think it was a
problem, but then again, I'm so out of touch these days I
constantly send Ryan Cunnigham (who is still out of town), e-mail
to the e-mail address he closed out 6 months ago.
We're getting too big to please everyone.
Yes, it's a size issue.
For the last two weeks we have reached a point where it took
me a good hour to upload the entire Ring Report to all the on-line
services we're on. We have been *huge* lately and I will admit
that I've been fielding complaint messages about it.
Looking back in the records I noticed that the first issue of
the Ring Report was 8.83K, in comparison the issue #105 was 64.2K
and issue #106 was 61.0K on my harddrive. Do the math for
yourself, but it seems that we're at the point where every few
weeks we have abnormally large issues.
And people are complaining about it.
Why?
I'm not sure. We're a free publication, no one here is being
paid for their efforts, and we put out the best report we can each
week. Our target reader is the person who can't watch every TV
show or go to House shows in their area and needs something other
than Spock Meltzer's or Wade K.'s sheets to catch up with the
wrestling world and I honestly think we're doing a great job at it.
But the size complaints persist.
So what am I going to do?
Well, since I'm running this thing my decision is that we're
going to continue to provide the same TV and house show reports
that we always provide along with our columns, first hand accounts
of shows, and of, course, my usual rants and raves each week. In
fact, if we can we're going to get *even bigger* each week in order
to provide you with the best coverage of the Wrestling world that
we can do!
So what about those complaints?
Well, I'm going to give you as much advanced warning as I can
when I know that we're going to have a huge issue. The first of
these warnings happens RIGHT NOW. In our next issue we have 4
house show reports already lined up, along with the coverage of the
WCW PPV -- and I *know* we're going to be right back up at 61 or
62K on my harddrive. We may even have to delay the issue's release
until the morning of Monday the 20th due to the size matter.
Consider yourself warned because the issue is going to be
spectacular! ;)
Finally a couple of notes, we're welcoming back Michael Testa
this week from a short absence, and hopefully we'll have Ryan
Cunningham back from his trip to England next week. Dennis Miller
is looking for help finding a new satellite station that carries
NWA Wrestling as the station he had suddenly stopped broadcasting
this week, and finally, some news on Chris Yetman.

As you all know he's our PPV reporter and he's doing a great
job at covering all of the WCW and WWF pay-per-views. Well, this
week his jaw dropped when he realized that both the WWF and WCW
have added a few new PPV'S to their line-ups this year. Actually,
I think his jaw dropped further when he realized that covering both
would pretty much drain his pockets.
With that in mind I am suggesting the formation of the Chris
Yetman Couch Change fund-raiser. Yes, if you love his reports and
you actually have a habit of find money under the cushions of your
couch that you're willing to part with send it to Chris! It's
non-tax deductible, he'll probably take the money and run off to
Mexico, and you'll probably find less money under your cushions of
your couch than it costs to buy a stamp -- but hey, it's one way to
keep him happy and keep those reports coming!
Why don't I pay him off myself?
Umm . . .
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
