Step
1.

Set the NCP board to download status.

The S200 device can enter the download status in two ways: through B.OFF switch
and through DIP switch. In the case of DIP switch, you need to uninstall the device.
So, this method is not recommended. The method of B.OFF switch+ reset button
(N.RST switch) is described in detail below:

2.

i.

Hold the B.OFF switch down, and click the reset button (N.RST switch) softly
with a pointed object (such as a toothpick) to reset the device.

ii.

All the indicators of Ethernet ports on the panel will light up once, and then
dim out. Do not release the B.OFF switch until the RUN indicator on the right
of the B.OFF button dims out and the MAJ/MIN indicator turns orange and
lights up. This indicates that the main board enters the download status.

Log in to NCP.
i.

Take a network cable. (If the network port of PC supports self-adaptation,

there is no requirement for network cable type. If the network interface does
not support self-adaptation, the network cable must be a crossover cable.)
Connect one end of the cable to the network port of PC and the other end to
the Qx interface of NCP board.

ii.

In download state, the default IP address of NCP board is 192.192.192.11. On

the PC, set an address to be in the same network segment as that of the IP
address of NCP, Generally, 192.192.192.1 is recommended, as shown in
Figure 5 -3.

XX: XX and it should be unique in the whole network. Generally, if the IP
address is 192.1.2.18, it is recommended to set the MAC address to 92:1:2 (or
the hexadecimal system uniformly), which is unique and easy to remember.
After you finish setting, the system will prompt you whether to save the
configuration. Type Y to save the configuration, or N to cancel the
configuration and keep the original address information. You can run the dcfgnet s command to confirm whether the configuration information is
updated or not.
iii.

4.

At last, type d-reboot and press enter to end the telnet connection and restart
the NCP board.

Set the NCP board to BootRom status, that is, the normal working status.
If the NCP board has entered the download status in mode 2 (the combination of
the B.OFF switch and Reset button) in step 1, it will enter the bootrom status
automatically after the command d-reboot is executed in step (3). If the NCP board
enters the download status in mode 1 (DIP switch), it can enter the bootrom status
only through DIP switch. The details are as follows:
i.

Wear the antistatic wrist strap and pull out the NCP board.

ii.

In the S3 area, not all the four switches of DIP switch are set to ON or OFF.
Generally, only one switch needs to be set to OFF, as shown in Figure 5 -7.

Reference
Ensure that receive optical power value of each interconnected optical interface is within
the index range. You can confirm it by using an optical power meter or querying the
optical power performance value of the board interface on the EMS. If the receive optical
power of an interface is too high (approaching or more than the overload optical power
index), you can reduce it by adding an optical attenuator on the receiving port. If it is too
low (approaching or less than the receiving sensitivity index), you can increase it by
cleaning the connector of tail fiber with a fiber-cleaner, or replacing the tail fiber or the
flange connector on the ODF side.

5.3.2

Verifying Services

6.1

Verifying E1 Service
Step
1.

Verifying E1 channel of EMS:

1.

Configure one 2M service between NE A and NE C, respectively corresponding to

each 1# channel of EPE1 board of the two NEs.

2.

Observe the whole channel to check whether the AU-AIS or TU-AIS alarm is
reported, if so, it indicates that mismatched timeslots may be configured on the two
ends, which causes the service not to terminate. You need to perform the
configuration again. If there is no alarm, it indicates that the 2M service is
termination service and has been terminated on the two ends.

3.

Right-click NE A and choose Device Manager > NE Operation > Maintenance

Management > Insert Alarm to display the Insert Alarm window, as shown in
Figure 6 -34. Insert the TU12-AIS alarm into the 1# channel port of ET1 board.

Figure 6-34 Inserting an Alarm

iii.

Observe whether the 1# port of ET1 board of NE C can receive the TU12-AIS
alarm from NE A and whether the 1# port of NE A can receive the response
VC12-RDI from NE C. If the two ends can receive alarm messages from each
other, it indicates that the 2M channel is connected successfully.

iv.

4.

Query the current performance value of the 1# port of EPE1 board on each of
the two ends and confirm whether the port reports error codes. If not, it
indicates that the 2M channel can be used normally.

Verifying E1 service:
Access the customers base station service and verify the E1 service.

Result

6.2

1.

The E1 channel is normal.

2.

The base station service is provided normally.

Setup
1.

Test tools, for example, SmartBits meter or PC

2.

At least two test engineers

Step
1.

Configure the data service according to the verification environment.

2.

Check whether exceptional alarms are reported on the channel, if there is no SDHrelated alarm but Ethernet-related alarm exists, there may be problems with the
data configuration. You need to modify the configuration data.

3.

Connect the meter or PC to the two ends of service channel and conduct the ping
test. Test the indexes of the channel, including packet loss rate, throughput and
delay.

Result

6.3

1.

The Ethernet service data is configured correctly.

2.

The test result of service channel is within the standard index range.

Verifying OW Phone
Setup
1.

The whole-network OW function is configured correctly.

2.

Each site to be tested should be equipped with one OW phone at least.

37

ZXMP S200 Commissioning Guide Internal Use Only

3.

There are at least two test engineers.

Step
1.

Test the point call.

i.

Number setting: P1P2P3, where Pn=0~9 (n=0~3).

ii.

If the subscriber picks the phone up and hears busy tone, it indicates that
there is no idle channel currently. If the subscriber hears dialing tone, it
indicates that the subscriber can dial the called number.

iii.

If the subscriber dials a wrong number or does not dial a number within 30
seconds, he/she will hear busy tone prompting him/her for on-hook.

iv.

If the subscriber dials a number and hears ring back tone, it indicates that the
call is connected successfully. The subscriber can talk with the called party if
he/she picks up the phone. If the called party does not pick up the phone
within 30 seconds, the calling party will hear busy tone prompting him/her for
on-hook.

Tip:

For point call, the call can be connected only when the peer site is idle. The subscriber will
hear busy tone after the called party hangs up.
2.

Test the group call.

i.

Number setting: group call password M1M2M3, where Mn=0~9 (n=0~3); group
call number Q1Q2Q3, where Qn=0~9 and wildcard *(n=0~3). The wildcard
indicates any number, for example *12 refers to the sites whose last two
numbers are 12, and *** refers to all sites.

ii.

If the subscriber picks the phone up and hears busy tone, it indicates that
there is no idle channel presently. If the subscriber hears dialing tone, he/she
can dial a seven-digit number #M1M2M3Q1Q2Q3 to originate the group call.

iii.

If subscriber dials a wrong group call password or number, or does not dial a
number within 30 seconds, he/she will hear busy tone prompting him/her for
on-hook.

iv.

After the call is connected successfully, the subscriber can talk with the called
party if he/she picks up the phone.

Tip:

38

ZXMP S200 Commissioning Guide Internal Use Only

For group call, the call can only be connected to idle sites. The busy tone will not be sent if
the called party of a site hangs up.
3.

Test the forced insertion call

i.

Number setting: forced insertion call password N 1N2N3, where Nn=0~9

(n=0~3); forced insertion call number AAA, where AAA=111 (meaning forced
inserting into E1) or 222 (meaning forced inserting into E2).

ii.

The subscriber can directly dial # N 1N2N3AAA to insert into a call no matter
whether he/she hears busy tone or dialing tone.

iii.

If subscriber dials a wrong forced insertion call password or number, or does

not dial a number within 30 seconds, he/she will hear busy tone prompting
him/her for on-hook.

iv.

After the call is connected successfully, the subscriber can talk with the called
party if he/she picks up the phone.

Tip:

1.

Even if the called site is busy, the subscriber can directly insert into the call, that is, the
forced insertion call can be connected to any site no matter whether it is busy or not.
The busy tone will not be sent after the called party of a site hangs up.

2.

The forced insertion call password is applicable to one NE and it can be configured on
NM. The NEs can be configured with different passwords.

Result
1.

The point call, group call and forced insertion call can be connected normally.

2.

There is no noise in the call.
