2. Preparation of Base Plate prior to Painting

The Top Wing and Base Plate are
manufactured independently.
In order to ensure a perfect fit
between the Top Wing and Base
Plate, minor adjustments may need
to be made to the recesses on the
Base Plate, where the Top Wing
supports sit.
This can be done using a Dremel
tool or by sanding/filing.
The Base Plate should always be
tested fitted to the car prior to
painting. Every R8 model is
different and minor rubbing down
might be required to some aspects
of the base plate to achieve a good
fit. The Base Plate is made of FRP
and is designed to be able to be
rubbed down.
You must always test fit the Top
Wing and Base Plate together
and onto the car, prior to
painting.
