In response to the global tobacco epidemic, countries are adopting stringent laws such as plain packaging to
curb smoking. However, such measures have been challenged at the WTO and investment arbitration fora.
Notwithstanding, WTO and investment rules provide protection for tobacco restriction measures. Comment.

2.

Dispute Settlement at the WTO has moved from a diplomacy-oriented system of dispute resolution to a more
legalistic system of dispute settlement. Discuss.

3.

Even though the WTO Agreements are primarily for promoting trade between countries, environmental
concerns have been given due consideration. Comment.
