Introduce new vocabulary
- Set a meaningful context to introduce new vocabulary (Today is Rosys birthday.
So her mother takes her to the toy shop to buy a present. Lets guess. What is it?)
- Give students a chance to look at and speaking out (they can speak in Vietnamese)
- Use real things and pictures to introduce the new words: plane, puppet, robot,
balloon, teddy.
- Play the recording (track 36) for students to listen and point to the pictures in their
Class book p. 22, then listen and repeat after the recording.
- Students practice chorally and individually.

Guessing game.
- Students work in groups.
- Show a half of a picture of a toy.
- Students work in groups to try to guess what toy in the picture is.
- The students who give a correct guessing will get one point.
DEVELOPMENT
Introduce the question and answer
- Set a meaningful context to introduce the new vocabulary (Lets play a game and
guess.)
- Show a few boxes which having some toys inside.
- Pick up one and ask Is it a plane? And then answer Yes, it is. / No, it isnt.
- Take the toy out of the box and confirm Yes, it is.
- Continue with the other boxes which contain toys inside (students have to make
questions).
- Swap the roles of asking and answering.
- Practice in pairs with the pictures in the Class book or real things.
Tic-Tac-Toe
- Draw nine squares on the board. Each square has a number.
- Each group chooses a number and guesses what it is by asking a Yes-No question. If
they guessing is correct, they get points. If not, they lose their turns.
- The winner is the group who get the most points.
Listen and chant
- Play the recording (track 27) for students to listen and chant.
- Play the chant the second time for students to say the words. Demonstrate the
actions for each word: plane ( put both arms outstretched like wings), puppet ( move
floppy arms up and down), robot (move stiff arms up and down), balloon ( draw a
circle in the air), teddy ( mime a hug).
- Practice the chant with groups of five. Each group chants a line and does the correct
action.
Point and say. Stick the stickers
- Ask students to open their Class book. (p. 22)
- Ask students to point to the toys and say the words.

- Say Lets stick the stickers. Take the plane sticker and show it to the class. Place the
sticker on the picture of the plane and say (Its a) plane.
- Follow the procedure with the puppet, robot, balloon, and teddy stickers.
- Students try to do as same as the teacher on their own.
- Go around the class and check.
CONSOLIDATION
Miming
- Divide the class into groups.
- Play a miming game.
- Do one of mimes the students learnt from the chant.
- Encourage students to shout out Is it a ..? to guess what the toy is.
- One point for the group who gives the correct guessing.
True or False Line.
- Put a line of tape on the floor and designate one side "True" and the other "False".
- Hold up an object or flashcard and say its word. If students think the word you have
said is the correct word, they jump to the True side. And if not, they jump to the
False side.
- Students that jump to the wrong side are out of the game and sit down.

Set-the-scene:

* Game: Changing the chairs"
- Teacher gives instructions:
+ Teacher distributes cards to students (Letter Y card, Sound /y/ card, Yo-yo
card). Students receive the cards randomly.
+ Teacher asks students to sit in their chairs arranged in a circle. Teacher stands
inside and says, Y changes the chairs, and then the students with letter Y have
to change the chairs.
+ Teacher may also say; /y/ changes the chairs or Yo-yo changes the chairs.
+ The students try to get the chairs and sits on it. The student who loses the chair
has to play the role of the teacher.
* Game: Card Game
- Teacher has four flashcards (play yo-yo/ run/ jump/ sing) and
demonstrates how to make questions and give answers with these flashcards.
- Teacher asks students to work in pairs. One student turns over the card and
asks the other, Can you play the yo-yo? Then they change their roles.

DEVELOPMENT
Basketball.
- Students work in groups, each group standing in a line.
- Students take a shot at the basket.
- There are a few baskets in the front facing to the students. Numbers of baskets are
the same as numbers of student groups.
- First show a letter card/a sound card/ or a picture to students 1.
- If they say the word matching with the card, they can have a shot at the basket. If
the students get the ball in the basket then they win 2 points. If the ball is out of the
basket, they win 1 point.
- If the word they say is not matching with the card, they will not have shot at the
basket.
- The group who gets the most points is the winner.
Stick. Then circle and say.
- Ask students to open their Class book (p. 24).
- Ask them to work individually to choose the sticker at the back of their Class book
and stick them on the suitable places in the picture part 3.
- Then ask them to circle the sounds /g/ and compare their work with their partners

- Divide the class into groups.
- Give each group a box of number cards and a small rail.
- Call out the numbers (like phone numbers except nine.).
- Students work in groups to find the correct numbers in the box and put them on the
rail in the correct random as fast as possible. Then show the rail to the teacher.
- The group who gives the correct and the fastest answer will get one point.
Introduce a short story
- Set a meaningful context for the story (Today is Tims birthday. Hes very happy
because he has lots of presents. What are they? Lets guess.)
- Give students a chance to think and guess one by one.

Role-play
- Play the recording once all the way through.
- Divide the class into groups of four (Dad, Tim, Billy and the Robot).
- Play the recording again. Demonstrate some actions for the story.
- Students practice acting out the story. Teacher moves around and help them if
necessary.
- Finally invite some groups to come to the front to play the roles in the story.

Reorder the story
- Students work in groups.
- Give each group a set of four pictures in the story.
- Ask students to work in groups to reorder the story and use glue to stick them on the
A4 sized paper. Then they act out the story in groups.

Match, ask and answer.
- Hold up a book. Point to the two rows of pictures. Explain that the pictures on the
top row are fragments of the toys below.
- Point to the top picture and Is it a plane? Elicit No, it isnt. Say Is it a teddy? And
elicit the same answer. Ask Is it a balloon? Nod your head to encourage students to
say Yes, it is.
- Trace the path of the dotted line with your finger until you reach the picture of the
desk below. Repeat Yes, it is. Its a balloon.
- Do the same way and this time get students to trace the lines with their fingers and
say the words with you in chorus.
- Students go over the trace lines with a robot, teddy and car on their own.
- Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the pictures.
- Go around the class and check.

Then the chasers will try to chase and touch the runners.
Then choose some other Ss to be farmers. When the runners are touched, they lie on
their back with their legs and arms in the air.
Then they have to wait until a farmer comes and rolls them over. To make this more
fun, Ss can also make a 'baa' noise when being rolled over.
