The above questionnaire is used for our survey .The next step after setting up a
questionnaire to selection of sample size, sample type I. e. suitable for our study.

SAMPLING DESIGN
Meaning of sampling : sampling is the selection of a fraction of the total number of
units of interest to decision making.

Sampling involves the following process.

• DEFINE THE POPULATION

• DETERMINE THE SAMPELING FRAME
• SELECT THE SAMPELING TECHNIQUES
• DETERMINE THE SAMPLE SIZE
• EXECUTE THE SAMPLING PROCESS.

DEFINE THE TARGET POPULATION

The target population is collection of elements or objects that possesses the information
sought by the researcher.The target population involves or it can be defined in terms of
elements, sampling units, extent and time.
 Elements: It means the respondent for our survey we select all
type of subscribers
 Sampling units: It is an element or a unit containing the
element I.e. available for selection at some stage of the sampling
process.
21

 Extent : It means covers geographical boundries.

our survey covers “BAGALKOT DISTRICT”.
 TIME: It is the time period consideration. For our survey
conducts 1 days.
 SAMPLE SIZE
The our study involves sample size of “100” respondents.

SAMPLING TECHNIQUES

There are several types of sampling techniques like mainly,

1> PROBABILITY SAMPLING

a) Simple random sampling
b) Systematic sampling
c) Stratified sampling
d) Cluster sampling
e) Other sampling techniques.

2> NON-PROBABILITY SAMPLING

a) Convenience sampling
b) Judgmental sampling
c) Quota sampling
d) Snow ball sampling.

From the above sampling techniques we are selected “quota sampling”

It means “Pre specified quota of units selected from each population segment or cell
based on the judgment of the researchers & or decision makers.
“we conduct survey on general basis means it involves all type of professionals ,
students, others.
22

After completion of sampling the next step is setting up of hypothesis.

HYPOTHESIS TESTING

Hypothesis means assumption Statistical hypothesis means assertion or conjecture about

parameter or parameters of a population. statistical hypothesis are based on the concept of
proof by contradiction. Here we selected null hypothesis I .e

Hypothesis is tested with the help of questionnaire the Ho states that more than or

equal to 70% of respondent are satisfied with quality of the paper Vijay Karnataka. as

per data collected 68 out of 100 respondent are satisfied with quality paper of Vijay
Karnataka

Null Hypothesis (HO): more than or equal to , 70% of people are

Satisfied with the paper quality of Vijay Karnataka.

Alternative hypothesis (H1): less than 70% of people are

Satisfied with the paper quality of Vijay Karnataka

HO = P >= 0.70

H1 = P < 0.70

Using Z TEST can prove this

23

P = 0.70
N = sample size = 100
a (alpha) = 5% level of confidence

P = Population proportion
PO = Sample proportion
S = Standard error
n = sample size
Z = 1.64 (referring table)

S= P(1-P)
n-1

= 0.70 (1-0.70)
100-1

S = 0.046
Po = 68/100
0.68

Z = Po –P
S
24

= 0.68 – 0.70 = -0.435

0.046
C0NCLUSION: Reject Ho because it falls under confidence level i.e. Negative critical
region. It states that less than 70% of people are satisfied with the paper quality of
Vijay Karnataka
