World War 1

Introduction
This report is about WW1, how it started to how it
ended. There are many bloody events so if you’re too
scared please do not read this because you may faint
and I don’t want the responsibility of you fainting.

How World War 1 Started?


World War 1 started by one person’s assassination.
Can you actually believe that? Though no doubt that
person was very important. Now WW1 started on
June the 28th 1914 when Archduke Franz Ferdinand,
heir to the royal throne of the Austrian-Hungarian
Empire was assassinated by a Serbian activist group
called the Black Hand. Since Serbia was under the
control of the Empire many where rebellious. Thus
this was how WW1 started.

What Happened Onwards


1914
When the King of the Empire found out about this.
He asked the Serbian government to start an
investigation on this assassination on their heir but
Serbia refuse to do this so on July 28th the King of the
Austrian-Hungarian Empire declared war on Serbia.
The next day Serbia’s ally, Russia ordered for his
troops to get ready for battle.
On August the 1st Germany an ally of the Austria-
Hungary declared war on Russia and demanded
France’s neutrality because France was an ally of
Russia, but France refuse’s and orders his troops to
get ready for battle. On August the 3rd Germany
declared war on France. The next day German
troops invaded Belgium who was close to France as
part of the plan to knock-out France, but Britain
bounded by a treaty to Belgium declared war on
Germany. On August 10th the Austrians invaded
Poland. Five days later Russia invaded East Prussia
to divert the Germans attention. Three days later
Russia invades another place, East Galicia and
makes fast progress. On August the 24th the Battle of
Mons takes place as the Britains slows the Germans
advance. Two days later the Germans shatter the
invading Russians on the Battle of Tannenburg. The
Battle of Marne abruptly halts the Germans invasion
on France.

On September the 7th the First Battle Of The


Masurian Lakes began.
On the 4th of October a joint Austria-Hungary and
Germany troops invade Russia. Ten days later
Canadian troops arrives in Britain. Four days later
the First Battle of the Ypres begins. On November the
second Russia declares war on Turkey who was an
ally of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. On the 5th of
November Turkey joins Germany, the Britains and
France responds by declaring war on Turkey. On
December the Battle of Limanown takes place as the
Austrians prevents the Russians from invading
Vienna. On December 25th troops share a Christmas
Truce and met in what they call “No Man’s Land”.

1915
On January 19th the first German zeppelin attack on
Britain’s mainland began. On the last day of January
the Germans used the first poison gas in WW1. On
February 4th the Second Battle of the Marsurian
lakes took place though each side did not have any
gains. Two months later on the 22nd the Second Battle
of the Ypres begins, the British Expeditionary Force’s
casualties are triple that of the German troops.
Meaning that the BEF are losing and the Germans
are having an advantage.

On May the 7th the Lusitania, a passenger ship was


sunk by a German submarine casualties include 124
American passengers. America responds with such
outrage that the German stops sinking passenger
ships. On the 23rd of June the Italians attacked
against Austrian fortified positions. On July 13 the
Germans made a triple attack aiming to destroy the
Russian troops. Nine days later the Russians
retreated out of Poland which was theirs at that time.
Later on this became known as the Great Retreat.
On November 23 the German and the Austria-
Hungary forces attacks the Serbian Army into exile
and Serbia falls.

1916
On February 21st the Battle of Verdun fought by the
French and the Germans causing heavy casualties on
both sides.
On May 31st the only naval battle in WW1 took place
I Jutland.
June the 28th Kitchener the Prime Minister of War for
Britain got killed at sea. Three days later on the first
day of the Battle Of Somme the attacking Britain’s
suffered nearly 60,000 casualties mostly in the first
hour of fighting. Romania declares war on the allies.
The Entente Powers invades Romania with quick
success.
1917
The Americans offers a peace treaty with the Entente
Powers but they refused immediately. A few months
later the US declares war on Germany. About a
month later US troops arrives in France. On July the
31st the Third Battle of the Ypres begins.

How did World War 1 End?


World War 1 ended when Germany signed a treaty
with the Allies called the Armistice. The Germans
signed the Armistice with the Allies on the 11th month
the 11th day and on the 11th hour.
