Fifth Annual Paint-Out Week

Feb. 20 through Feb. 28, 2010
The Plein Air Artists of Riverside (PAAR), affiliated with the Riverside Art Museum and the Riverside Arts Council in
Riverside, CA., will have its 5th annual Paint-Out Week beginning Saturday, Feb. 20 through Feb. 28, 2010. Artists will
paint in Plein Air by recreating various scenes along the beautiful historic Mission Inn Avenue in Riverside and surrounding
areas throughout the 9 days. Artists will follow in the tradition of the French Impressionists and capture light and air of the
scenes in front of them. Monet had Giverny, we have Mission Inn Avenue!
• Cost: A $45 nonrefundable fee for the 9 days and 2 month exhibit. All entrants must be members of PAAR
and RAM in order to participate. Fees for the event and for memberships in RAM and PAAR must be paid by Feb. 10,
2010. You may enter on the day of registration for $65.00 plus RAM and PAAR dues, if we have not reached our limit
of 75. Late applicants may not receive all data materials offered to pre registered artists.
• Where: Artists will paint at various sites in downtown Riverside and surrounding areas.
• Dates: Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, 9:00 am check in at Riverside Art Museum. Artists will receive information
regarding details of the paint out locations, exhibit to follow and prizes. All paper and canvases will be stamped. A
mini Art Expo with painting demos and new products that you will be able to try out and purchase will be available from
9 am to noon.
• Start time: Each day will begin at 7:30am with a free continental breakfast. Water & snack will be provided.
• What: One ready-to-hang painting max. size 16 x 20 unframed, unsigned by the artist, is to be reserved for
the juried, 2-month exhibit at the Riverside Arts Projects Gallery. RAP will receive 30% commission on any works
sold during the Exhibit. Gala Reception and Artists Award Ceremony Sat. Mar. 6, 2010.
• Quick Draw: Once again we will have a “Quick Draw” with prizes and awards followed by a wet painting sale in
front of the Riverside Arts Project Gallery. Artists will paint all week, and visitors can buy newly created work with a
15% donation to PAAR. (Limit 4). This year, your Quick Draw painting of the Riverside Plaza will also be eligible for
submission for a special showing of the plaza paintings during the PAAR Paint Out 2010 exhibit.
• Judges: PAAR Paint Out exhibit at the Riverside Arts Project Gallery will be judged by plein air artist William
Wray of Sierra Madre, CA. www.williamwray.com. The Quick Draw judge will be plein air artist and teacher Ed
Sotello of Redlands, CA. $5000.00 in prizes including cash, purchase award, gift certificates and art products will be
awarded and given out to the participating artists.
• The number of artists is limited to 75. Deadline for pre- registration is Feb. 10, 2010. A complete list of
sponsors, locations, prizes, quick draw and exhibit details will be available at check in.
