Welcome to the new year and the

Islamic month that marks our

It is relatively a short newsletter
this time with very little to say.
Thanks to all of you who attended
the events held in support of the
families of victims and survivors
of Peshawer massacre.
Community has been dealing with
grief in various ways and one such

PASSION, INTEGRITY & APNAPAN

Australia Day 2015

Like every year this year we will

be celebrating Australia Day and
will be collaborating with Children
Health and Education Foundation
to provide solar lights for the kids
from underserved areas in
Pakistan so they can get
education. One solar light lantern
in Pakistan costs about 1000 Rs
i.e. equivalent to about 13
Australian Dollars.
Our first donation of four lights
has already been in form our

member Wasif Zia so lets keep

the ball rolling.
As the new year starts, we also
will remind you of giving your old
eye glasses to us so they can be
send back to patients in Pakistan
who cannot afford to have a pair
of glasses.
Thank you to all who sent us the
best wishes for new year. These
include Hon. Andrea Mitchel,
Hon. Alannah Mc Tiernan, Mayor
of the City of Joondalup.
Finally congratulations to the
young ones who have got results
of their high school results.

We are grateful to messages of condolences that have been sent to us. Janine Freeman MLA, Alannah Mc Tiernan
(Member for Perth), Rebecca Ball (Executive officer Office of Multicultural Interests) and everyone that we have
met during various engagements have for their kind words.
The brutal details of the event are enough to tear us apart and share the grief that has stricken us as a nation.
This is not an incident that will be forgotten with time. At this moment we are revisiting our main idea of
celebration on 21st March and make it a simple event in memory of those who have been sacrificed in name of
religion.
Thank you very much to City of Perth for giving us the venue free of cost to hold candle light vigil and for WA
Police to be vigilant and in attendance.

ISLAMOPHOBIA: An issue very much alive

Last month one of our members of the community became a victim of the hate campaign and has reported to the
police. We will be following it up as the victim has been able to photograph the culprits and they should be easily
identifiable.
