Returning Warrior Workshop (RWW)

The RWW is an offsite workshop designed to assist the Sailor and their guest in the reintegration and
reunification process.
The weekend affords the Sailor and a guest the opportunity to get away from the distracting demands of
their daily lives and allow them to focus on re-establishing their relationships along with learning about
resources available to assist them during this transitional period. Please note that guests must be 18
years or older to attend an RWW.
The RWW is designed to:

Honor Sailors for their sacrifice in serving their Country and standing in harms way.
Honor family members/significant others/designated representatives for supporting
their Sailor.
Identify and assist the Sailor and their family member/designated representative
who might be experiencing difficulties following a deployment.

Through participation in all-hands plenary and breakout sessions, Sailors and guests are able to share
their experiences in a safe environment. The presentations and group sessions provide coaching and
instruction as to how the Sailor can become successful in their reintegration with family, friends,
community and careers.
Topics for the workshop range from: self-exploratory sessions (stress control, understanding your
communication style, how to interact and reconnect with your family, friends and co-workers) to
practical and implementable life skills sessions (debt management, developing a budget, educational
opportunities, tutoring resources, networking skills and employment tips, and how to navigate and
access your health, dental and other veteran benefits).
RWWs are not mandatory, but are encouraged for all previously deployed Sailors. In addition to plenary
and breakout sessions, there are a variety of resources present from various organizations to assist
Sailors and guests with reintegration and provide support going forward.
Resources can include: American Red Cross, Concordia Dental, ESGR, US Department of Labor (VETS),
State Employment Agency, Tricare, Troops to Teachers, Vet Centers, and Veterans Administration, to
name a few. Military and Family Life Consultants, Personal Financial Counselors, Chaplains and the
Psychological Health Outreach Team are also present to assist in the workshops.
