KERACUNAN DEXTROMETHORPHAN

PENDAHULUAN
Dextromethorphan (DM) merupakan obat yang bekerja sentral dengan
meningkatkan ambang sentral batuk digunakan di Amerika sejak tahun 1954. Namun
keracunan dengan obat ini dapat terjadi secara tidak sengaja atau penggunaan kronik
diatas dosis terapi. Sumber dari Drug Abuse Warning Network dari bagian emergensi di
Amerika menyebutkan 12.584 orang pada tahun 2004 mencari pertolongan akibat
masalah pemakaian obat DM ke unit gawat darurat. (Chyka, 2007).
