Detailed Lesson Plan:

Warm-Up Activity:
For this warm-up activity, students will be asked to prepare for the quiz that will occur following
the completion of these tasks. Students will be asked to separate their seats so there is an equal
distance between chairs. This process is to ensure that cheating is less likely to occur. I will then
ask students to hand in their notebooks so I can check to see if they completed the previous
classs closing assignment. This assignment will be assessed and given participation points. This
is also done so students are less likely to cheat during the quiz.
This warm-up activity will take approximately five minutes to complete.

Procedure:
This portion of class will be dedicated to two differing activities. First, students will be given a
quiz which they are to complete in class. From there, I as the instructor will give these simple
instructions:
1.
2.
3.
4.

Read all directions carefully and please answer all questions where spaces are provided.
No outside sources maybe used to answer any questions during this quiz.
Discovery of any acts of cheating will result in an automatic zero for a grade.
You have 20 minutes to complete this quiz.

This assessment exercise will take approximately twenty minutes to complete.

The next portion of class will consist of correcting the quizzes in class. Students will hand in
their quiz papers and from there, I will redistribute the quizzes to differing students. This will
ensure that students will not attempt to grade their own quizzes. I will also had out red pens to
each student. This will be the only tool that they are permitted to write with during this exercise.
We will then go through each question, giving the correct answer and also time to mark any
wrong answers. I will also answer any questions which are unclear to any students or need
further explanation. This is done to ensure that students are continually progressing from pointzero to a point of understanding.
I as the instructor will grade the final section of the quiz which required an extended responds for
full credit.
This portion of class will take approximately ten minutes to complete.

Closing Activity:
Will the few remaining minutes in class, I will ask students to begin reading pages 746-752 in
their textbook The American Pageant, by author David Kennedy. For homework, I will ask them
to complete the reading assignment and the questions which I will provide them prior to
dismissal. This reading will discuss in detail materials which we have previously covered, such
as the Fourteen Points as well as new materials which will continue to add on to previous
knowledge.

This activity will take the remainder of class time.
