How to use round crochet motif for Christmas balls decoration.

I like fluffy yarn, Yarnart Kid Mohair for example.

Its impossible to unweave this yarn in case of
mistake. So first it will be better to test crocheting
with cotton or smth else.
Please use plastic balls
Motifs with 5-6 petals will be the best.
Now I will show how to use one motif. You can use
different motifs and different yarns
1.25mm crochet hook

Main principle - crochet round motif

to the diameter of the ball. In the
next

rounds

reduce

quantity

of

chains. The motif will be getting

rounded and "embrace" the ball.

sl st [slip stitch]: insert hook, yarn over, pull the loop back through the stitch, then
through the loop on your hook.
sc [single crochet]: insert hook, yarn over, pull the loop back through the stitch (two loops
on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops on hook (this is equivalent to the UK dc
stitch)
dc [double crochet]: yarn over hook, insert hook in the next stitch to be worked, yarn
over hook, pull yarn through stitch, yarn over hook, pull yarn through 2 loops on hook, yarn
over hook, pull yarn through last 2 loops on hook
dtr [double treble (triple) crochet]: yarn over hook three times

Round 1: Ch12 and sl st to join into a ring

Round 2: ch1; sc24 into the ring; sl st into the 1st st
Round 3a: ch3; dc1 in the same st; dc2 in every st front loop only; sl st into the 3rd st (we
make smth. like a collar to close a cap on the ball); go down with sl st on the back side to
the bottom of collar and continue to crochet Round 3 of main chart using back loops of
2nd round only
Round 3b: ch5; dtr1; *ch5; 2dtr cluster* - repeat *-* 11 times; ch2; dc into 1st st of round

Round 4: ch1; sc3 into chain space; *sc6 in every chain space * repeat 11 times; sc3;
close the round with sl st
Round 5: ch1; sc1 in the same st; $*ch2; dc2 into the central stitch of chain space* repeat ** 4times in the same st;$; repeat $$ 6 times for every chain space; ch2, close the
round with sl st
Round 6: ch1; sc1 into the same st; *ch5; sc1 into the 2nd group of dc of previous round;
ch5; sc1 into the 3rd group of dc; ch5; sc1 into the bottom st of petal*; repeat ** (see chart)
End of chart
Round 7: sl st 2 (to the center of chain space); ch6; *dc1 in the next chain space; ch3;*
repeat ** till the end of round; close round with sl st into the 3rd ch
Round 8: sl st 1 (to the center of chain space); ch5; *dc1 in the next chain space; ch2;*

Now put our coat on the ball

Cut and hide the ends of thread.
