The E-FSA Configuration Sheet is a quick way to put together the parts for an addressable fire
alarm system in 5 easy steps. It was created using an Excel spreadsheet, but can be printed out
and used as a check list that can be filled in by hand. Note that you may have to manually clarify
some part numbers to specify options, such as colors, if using this in its printed form. Yellow
highlighted cells are where you make entries if using this in its electronic spreadsheet form.
Information in other cells will then be filled in automatically as needed.
Before you use this configuration sheet, you should have a good idea of what is required for the job
(panel features, type and number of devices, etc.). If you're not sure where to start, you can refer to
the Addressable Fire Alarm Questions to Ask form on the second tab (FAQtA) of this spreadsheet.
Once you've filled in the information on that form, you can use this configuration sheet to select the
necessary parts.
Start by selecting the addressable devices required for the system on the Addr. Dev (1) sheet. This
will determine the size of the panel needed. Then on the Panel (2 & 3) sheet select the panel
based on the number of addressable devices. Next choose the options for the panel, such as
RS232 interface and remote annunciators. Step 4 is to choose the signaling devices and calculate
the signal load on the Signals (4) sheet. If using the printed sheet, you'll have to calculate the
signal load manually. If using the electronic spreadsheet, you can enter the quantities of each
device type in the section that shows device currents and it will total the currents for you. If booster
power supplies are needed, you will also have to fill out the BPS Batteries (5b) sheet to determine
proper batteries.
If an audio evacuation system is needed (pre-recorded voice evacuation message and/or live
paging with microphone), fill out the Speakers (4a) and Audio Panel (4b) sheets (steps 4a and 4b)
along with the ANS Batteries (5c) sheet.
The final step (step 5) is to determine the proper battery size for the panel using the FSA Batteries
(5) sheet. You can either fill this out manually on the printed page, or by entering the values in the
spreadsheet. If using it in it's electronic form, some of the selections from the previous sheets
automatically carry over to the FSA Batteries sheet (other values such as signal loads and battery
back up time will have to be entered manually). The calculations will then be done for you.
This Misc. sheet includes the other available Edwards fire alarm products that are less commonly
used. Because of this, there are no "checks and balances" when you select these items (no "too
This Misc. sheet includes the other available Edwards fire alarm products that are less commonly
used. Because of this, there are no "checks and balances" when you select these items (no "too
many devices" or current load checks, for example). Selected devices will be included on the
Summary sheet, however, and be part of the final BOM.
When finished with your selections, you can go the the Summary sheet to review (only in electronic
form). The Summary sheet will summarize your selections and give you the option to print a BOM
(be sure to follow the instructions).
When using this configuration sheet in its electronic form, there are red tags (
) throughout with
additional information (some tags mark hidden calculations and pop-up warnings). To view, place
the mouse pointer over the tag. For more detailed product information, refer to catalog and/or
installation sheets
Always double check selections and calculations for mistakes. Although there are some warnings
for wrong or missing entries, the user is ultimately responsible for the correct bill of material..
This Configuration Sheet includes most, but no all, the fire alarm products Edwards offer. You
should refer to the catalog, price book, or contact Edwards Signaling if you need something not
shown on these sheets.
It is suggested that you keep an original copy of this spreadsheet and save any changes you might
make as another file name to ensure you have a clean starting point each time.

Enter quantities below for each strobe and horn strobe candela (cd) setting used and total up device currents for both fwr (full wave rectified) and dc. The EFSA64 panel has 3.75 amps of fwr power. E-FSA250 has 6 amps of fwr power. If fwr total exceeds panel's supply, you will need booster power supply(ies).
Use dc current values to determine booster power supply load. Note: If using the E-FSA64 panel and the total fwr load is more than 3750mA but less than
6000mA, it may be more cost effective to use the larger E-FSA250 panel instead of adding a booster supply.

This sheet contatins the other less common, but available Edwards fire alarm
products not covered in the previous sheets. None of these products figure
into any calculations (device quantity checks, current loads, etc.), but will get
totaled on the Summary sheet as part of the final BOM if you enter
quantities.
None of these devices are addressable, so if you select an initiating device,
such as a weatherprrof MPSR series pull station, you will need to select the
appropriate module on the Addr. Devices sheet if you want to connect it to
the addressable panel.
