WHY A BITCOIN CONFERENCE IN

AFRICA?
AFRICA?
A Bitcoin Conference in Africa will educate people
about what Bitcoin is and its possibilities for both
individuals and businesses in Africa.
Bitcoin is changing the way we do business with each
other: how we transact and the ways in which we send
and receive money across the world.
Bitcoin enables people to use their cell phones to
pay for services, to buy products and to send and
receive remittances at very low transaction fees.
The majority of the population in Africa has no
access to banking services and only 20% of African
families have bank accounts. However, more than
650 million people in Africa have a cell phone and
Bitcoin can therefore offer a convenient and low
cost method of transacting.
The underlying technology of Bitcoin, the block
chain, offers advancements and innovation in
various technological fields. The open-source and
distributed nature of Bitcoin creates new
opportunities for businesses in Africa.
