Purpose

Thepurposeofthisinterviewandthequestionstofollowforeveryapplicant,istogetabrief
insightintotheapplicantspersonality,andtherebybeingabletoselecttheapplicantmost
fittingforajobwithintheSecretService.

ThisInterviewManualhasbeenwrittenwiththoughttowardsdifferentquestionsand
scenariostogivetheinterviewerthetoolsneededtomakethebestdecisionsastowhat
applicantgetstojointheranksoftheSecretService.

Anyandallpartsofthismanualmustnotbedistributedorsharedwithanyoneoutsidethe
agency,andthismanualisthepropertyoftheSecretService.Shouldanagentbeterminated,
resignorinanyotherwayleavetheemploymentoftheSecretService,thismanualandall
knowledgegainedwithintheSecretServiceistobeconsideredconfidential,andsharingof
suchinformationmighthavesevereconsequences.

Informationfortheinterviewers

AnyandallapplicantsapplyingtotheSecretServicemusthaveatleast1HeadAgentor
abovepresent,andbeatleast2agentstotalpresentduringaninterview.
Applicantmustbeinformedthateverythingwithintheinterviewisstrictlyconfidential,andany
leaki.e.discussingthequestionsoranswerswithothersaretobeconsideredgroundsfor
terminationoftheapplicationandpossiblyexpellingtheapplicantfromthecommunity.

Theinterviewwillbecarriedoutin2stages.
Stage1willconsistofmandatoryquestions,whereallquestionsneedstobeansweredbythe
applicant.
Stage2willconsistofscenariosituations.Thesedonothaveatextbookanswer,andare
mentsolelytogiveaninsightintothepersonalityandgeneralreadinessoftheapplicant.The
interviewerwillselect35ofthesescenarios.

Oncebothstagesarecomplete,theinterviewerswillinformtheapplicantthattheanswers
givenwillbediscussed,andonceaconclusionisreached,theapplicantwillbeinformed
wetherornot
heorsheisacceptedintotheSecretServiceandwhy.
