Hiawatha First Nation is now accepting applications

For the position of:


COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE

Role: To provide community health nursing services to Hiawatha First Nation.


SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide a full range of Community Health Nursing Services to Hiawatha First Nation with a
focus on health promotion, illness/injury prevention and education
Clinic visits for preventative care
Regular home visits and assessments in conjunction with the Homemaker Program
Immunizations
Child care and Youth Centre Visits
Family and youth health clinics
Communicable disease control
Community workshops and education
Provide prenatal and postnatal services
Project and monitor budgetary expenditures
Provide necessary documentation and reporting requirements to management and funding
agencies
Conduct after care services when required
Maintain accurate and confidential client charts
Other duties as required

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Nursing Degree from a Canadian University or recognized equivalent

Occupational Certificates:
Proof of current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
A current member with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) includingLegal
Assistance Program
Willingness to obtain additional certification required and provided by Health Canada to
carry out the mandated programs re: immunizations and communicable disease
CPR and Standard First Aid
Experience:
Minimum one year nursing experience
Experience as a registered nurse in Community Health Nursing
Experience in providing health services to First Nation Communities an asset

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess valid Ontario Drivers License
Willing to provide third party liability insurance, if required
Must be self-motivated, independent, reliable and decisive
Must be creative and flexible
Able to work as a member of a team
Possess effective oral and accurate written communication skills
Possess the capacity to cope with stress and crisis situations
Working knowledge of applicable computer programs i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and
PowerPoint
Able to provide a statement of good health from family physician
Possess a high respect for the maintenance of confidentiality
***Due to the nature of the position a clear CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Check is required

Annual Salary: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 (based on a 35 hour work week)
