%3d#db=prh&AN=12560589>. This source is a summary of Alfred Nobels life. My favorite part
of this source is,"In 1876, Nobel met Bertha Kinsky, a Bohemian noblewoman and a dedicated
pacifist (one who opposes war or violence). From his friendship with Kinsky, Nobel developed a
strong desire for world peace. He died in Italy in 1896." It shows one of the reasons why Alfred
created the Prize. This is a secondary source just because.
"Bertha von Suttner." Women in World History. N.p., n.d. Web. 2 Nov. 2014.
<http://www.womeninworldhistory.com/contemporary-02.html>. This source is about Bertha von
Suttner and how she inspired Alfred Noble to create the Nobel Prize. She wrote a book,Lay
Down Your Arms, she founded the Austrian Peace Society, she was the first woman to get a
Nobel Prize, and she died while organizing the international peace congress that was to be held in
Vienna in August, 1914. This is a secondary source.
"Alfred Nobel - His Life and Work." Nobelprize. Nils Ringertz, n.d. Web. 29 Oct. 2014.
<http://www.nobelprize.org/alfred_nobel/biographical/articles/life-work/>. This webpage is
about Alfred Nobel's early life and the conditions in his life. It also explains the beginning of
creating dynamite. There is a cause to making the Nobel Peace Prize. This is a secondary source
because someone from our time wrote it about him.
Carlisle, Rodney. Scientific American Inventions and Discoveries. N.p.: n.p., 2004. google books. Web.

This is a source summerizes his process in inventiong dynamite. It also explains his family
during this time, the turning point to creating dynamite and briefly discussing the Nobel
Prize. This is a secondary source because its an online book that was published in 2004.

about the Nobel Prize and the man who created it. It shows you a different side of Alfred's

Primary SourcesAlfred Nobel: Inventive Thinker. N.p.: Scholastic Inc., 2004. Print. This is the big book about Alfred
Nobels life, at the end of the book it talks about the Nobel Prize. This is a secondary source with
primary pictures.
"Baroness Von Suttner." Manchester Guardian's: n. pag. Print. This is an obituary of Bertha von Suttner
that explains what she has done in her life and the changes that she made with peace. It mentions
that she won a Nobel Prize and it mentions Alfred Nobel. This is a primary source because it was
printed at the time of Bertha von Suttner.
"Defination of the Nobel Prize." Google. N.p.: n.p., n.d. N. pag. Print. The defination of the Nobel Prize
is,"any of six international prizes awarded annually for outstanding work in physics, chemistry,
physiology or medicine, literature, economics (since 1969), and the promotion of peace. The
Nobel Prizes, first awarded in 1901, were established by the will of Alfred Nobel and are
traditionally awarded on December 10, the anniversary of his death. The awards are decided by
boards of deputies appointed by Swedish learned societies and, in the case of the peace prize, by
the Norwegian Parliament." I didnt know alot of this information. This is a primary source.
"Letter." Brain Pickings. Maria Popova, n.d. Web. 28 Oct. 2014. <http://www.brainpickings.org/wpcontent/uploads/2013/09/thesecretmuseum_nobel2.jpg>. This is Alfred Nobels handwritten
will. His will explains the purpose of the Nobel Prize. It explains that his money will be given to
the winners of the Nobel Prize. This is a primary source because it is a photograph of his hand
written will that he wrote before he died. It goes well with my topic.
"Martin Luther King Wins The Nobel Prize for Peace." The New York Times [New York]: n. pag. Print.
http://www.nytimes.com/learning/general/onthisday/big/1014.html This is the url on wchich the
Newspaper was found. This is a headline that reconizes Martin Luther King for winning the
Nobel Peace Prize. This is a primary source becasue it was published near the time when he won
the prize.
Nobel, Alfred Bernhard. Letter to Bertha Felicitas Sophie Freifrau Von Suttner. N.d. MS. This is a letter
written for Bertha von Suttner saying that Alfred Nobel would create a Peace Society like what
she has done. It would be called the Nobel Prize honoring people for their accomplishments in
Chemistry, Physics, Physiology or Medicine, Peace and Literature. Bertha von Suttner had
inspired him to do that, so it relates to my topic very well. This is a primary source because
Alfred Nobel wrote this for Bertha von Suttner himself.
"The Nobel Foundation." Sweden. N.p., n.d. Web. 30 Oct. 2014. <https://sweden.se/society/the-nobelprize/>. This is a portrait of Alfred Noble. This is a primary source because I typed "portrait of
Alfred Nobel" into the search bar, so this photograph must be a portrait that was painted during
his time. Which makes this photograph a primary source.
"Nobel Prize Award." Bookshelf. N.p., n.d. Web. 13 Nov. 2014.
<http://bookshelf.mml.ox.ac.uk/2014/10/15/nobel-prize-number-fifteen/>. This is a photo of what
the Nobel Prize looks like. This is a primary source because this was taken during that time.
Noble, Alfred. Memo. N.d. TS. This is a quote that he wrote in his will. The quote is ,"I intend to leave
after my death a large fund for the promotion of the peace idea, but I am skeptical as to its
results." This is a quote that Alfred Noble himself wrote, so it makes it a primary source.
Noble, Alfred Bernhard. Letter. N.d. TS. This is a letter that Alfred Nobel wrote to his father, Immanuel
Nobel, saying that he figured out the mixture for creating dynamite. After he wrote that letter,
their relationship slowly got restored. This is a primary source because Alfred Nobel wrote this
letter at the time when he was still alive.
"Thrills in Science." unknown Sept. 1941: n. pag. Rpt. in Tumblr. N.p.: n.p., n.d. N. pag. Print. This is the
fake obituary of Alfred Nobel. IT explains that his invention killed him and others. But it was
really his brother who dies with others, NOT because of his explosion of dynamite but because of
the unsafe mine explosion. People said that is said to have brought about his decision to leave a
better legacy after his death. This is a primary source because it was written when Alfred was
still alive and it is about Alfred's death even though it was his brother who died.
