Overview
The following pages provide a step-by-step guide to installing, managing
and uninstalling QuantiQa Client, and are subdivided into the following
topics:
1.
Minimum hardware and third-party software requirements.
2.
Installing QuantiQa Client for the first time.
3.
Changing or repairing QuantiQa Client.
4.
Updating QuantiQa Client.
5.
Uninstalling QuantiQa Client.
For details about the day-to-day use of QuantiQa Client, please refer to the
QuantiQa Client User Manual.
You can access the QuantiQa Client User Manual, once you have installed
and started the software, by doing the following:

Main Screen.
Result:
The QuantiQa Client User Manual displays in *.pdf

format.
You need a suitable *.pdf reader installed on your system, such as

Adobe Reader, or similar, to be able to view the QuantiQa Client User
Manual.
NOTE:
The examples of screens, menus and dialog boxes shown in this guide
may differ slightly from those displayed by your system, depending
upon which Microsoft Windows version you are using, and your local
settings.
Minimum Hardware and ThirdParty Software Requirements

The following chapter lists the minimum PC hardware configuration, and
third-party software, required to be able to successfully install and run
QuantiQa Client. Additional CommProve hardware recommendations are
also shown, in bold italics, if these differ from the minimum specified.
H ARDWARE R EQUIREME NTS

Before you install and run QuantiQa Client, please ensure that the PC you
are planning to use, at least meets the following minimum configuration
requirements. System performance will be improved, if your PC complies
with the additional CommProve recommendations, where given.
CPU: Intel 1.5 GHz Pentium IV (or equivalent), or faster.

Hard Disk: 80 GB, or greater, with a minimum of 1 GB free.
RAM: 1 GB. 2 GB or more is recommended.
Monitor: 17. 19 or larger is recommended.
Display Resolution: 16 Bit, 1024 X 768 pixels. 1600 X 1200 pixels or
more are recommended.
T HIRD - PARTY S OFTWARE R EQUIREME NTS
Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Windows Vista

Business, or Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate. 32 Bit versions only.
IMPORTANT:
The QuantiQa Client does not run under Microsoft Windows
2000, or other earlier versions of Microsoft Windows.
MapInfo MapX 5.0.
MapInfo MapX provides QuantiQa Client with its optional geographical

map presentation functionality, and enables you to view and analyze
location-based data in a clear and precise graphic display. For further
information about MapInfo MapX, or to purchase the required user
license, please visit http://www.pbinsight.com/products/locationintelligence/developer-tools/desktop-mobile-and-internetoffering/mapx-mobile/.
NOTE:
QuantiQa Client can be used without MapInfo MapX, but it will lack
any map presentation functionality.
All third party software should be installed according to the manufacturers
installation instructions.
Installing QuantiQa Client

For The First Time
IMPORTANT:
You need Windows Administrator User Account rights to be
able to install QuantiQa Client.
The following chapter provides a step-by-step guide to installing QuantiQa
Client for the first time.
If you already know that you want to use the optional QuantiQa Client
geographical map presentation functionality, or believe that you will
require it in the near future, it is recommended that you install the
MapInfo MapX software before you install QuantiQa Client. To do this,
please follow the manufacturers instructions. If you are unsure
whether you need this functionality, you may also install the MapInfo
MapX software at a later date.
NOTE:
Prior to installing QuantiQa Client, please ensure that you have the
latest version of the installation file. This can be obtained from your
local CommProve representative.
The QuantiQa Client setup file can be identified by its name, which is
similar to QuantiQaSetup_X_Y_Z.msi, where:
X (one digit) is the major version number.
Y (one or two digits) is the minor version number.
Z (one or two digits) is the release version number.

Copy the QuantiQa Client Setup file to your Windows Desktop, or an

alternative location on your hard drive.
2.
Double left-click on the QuantiQa Client Setup File Icon.

Installing QuantiQa Client For The First Time
T H E P R O G R A M F E AT U R E I N S TA L L AT I O N S E T
The Main Window of the QuantiQa Client Custom Setup dialog initially
shows the default program feature installation set. The program features
are:
Main Program (required).

The QuantiQa Client.
Help files.
QuantiQa User Manual and table description documentation.
Server settings template.

A server configuration template file.
WireShark PDU decoder.

CommProves customized WireShark protocol dissector. Required to
decode protocol data units (PDU).
The Text Box, to the right of the Main Window, describes the highlighted
item, which by default is the Main Program, together with the total number
of selected sub-features, if any. It also informs you how much space the
current selection, and all associated sub-features, will occupy on your hard
drive.

You may remove any item, or group of items, if required, except for the
Main Program, from the program feature installation set. However, it
is recommended that you install all program features.
To remove an item from the program feature installation set:

desired folder name, into the Folder Name field.
Click OK to accept the new installation path and folder, (or Cancel to
abort the changes).
Result:
The Change Destination Folder dialog closes, you return

to the QuantiQa Client Custom Setup dialog, and the
Location entry is updated.
You cannot revert to the default installation path by clicking the Reset
button. To revert to the default installation path, use one of the above
procedures, or cancel and restart the installation. Please refer to
further details.
DISK USAGE
Once you have selected the program features and installation path that you
require, you can optionally check whether you have enough disk space
available before you start the installation. While still displaying the
QuantiQa Client Custom Setup dialog:

Click Disk Usage.

The Main Window of the Disk Space Requirements dialog lists all of the
available drive volumes on your PC, together with their sizes, the available
space on each, and the space needed to complete the installation on the
selected drive.
If the selected installation drive has insufficient space, it will be highlighted,
to show that the installation cannot be successfully completed. Please refer
to Insufficient Space On The Installation Drive, later in this chapter, for
further details.

Click OK.

Once the Installing QuantiQa Client window displays, you can still
abort the installation by clicking Cancel. Please refer to Cancel the
QuantiQa Client Installation, later in this chapter, for further details.
When the installation is complete, the Completed QuantiQa Client Setup
Wizard dialog displays.

Changing or Repairing
QuantiQa Client
IMPORTANT:
able to change or repair a QuantiQa Client installation.
CAUTION:
Before proceeding with any of the following steps, ALWAYS ensure
that you make backup copies of the following folders and their
contents:
Server settings.
Colormaps.
Queries.
Charts.
Presets.
Scripts.
These can be found in your QuantiQa Client program directory (for
example: C:\Program Files\CommProve\Quantiqa).
To start the change or repair procedure for your existing QuantiQa Client
installation:
1.

Locate the QuantiQa Client Setup file that you originally used
to install QuantiQa Client, and double left-click on its icon.
If you no longer have the original QuantiQa Client Setup file (or a
copy with the same software version number), you must use the
relevant method from the following list, appropriate to your operating
system.
You cannot change or repair an existing QuantiQa Client installation,
by using the setup file for a later software version. If you attempt to do
so, your existing installation will be overwritten by the new version.

The Main Window of the QuantiQa Client Custom Setup dialog initially
shows the currently installed program feature set. Please refer to The
Program Feature Installation Set, earlier in this Guide, for further details.
The Text Box, to the right of the Main Window, describes the highlighted
item, which by default is the Main Program. If you add sub-features, the
Text Box informs you how much extra space is required on your hard disk. If
you remove items, it displays the amount of additional space that will
become available, after the change.

QuantiQa Client Change functionality. This can only be done by
either:
Uninstalling, and then reinstalling the program, or:

Creating a second installation, by running a QuantiQa Client Setup
file, and defining a different Program Installation Path to the current
one.
NOTE:
CommProve does not support, or recommend, installing two
copies of QuantiQa Client, on the same PC.
DISK USAGE
Once you have selected the program features that you want to change, you
can optionally check whether you have enough disk space available.

While it is possible to install a newer version of QuantiQa Client over
an existing QuantiQa Client Installation, it is strongly recommended
that you complete the following procedure, to ensure a clean update.

Follow one of the procedures described in Uninstall QuantiQa

Client, later in this Guide, to remove the existing installation.
2.
Follow the procedure described in Install QuantiQa Client, earlier

in this Guide, to install the new version of QuantiQa Client.
Result:
A clean update is available.

If you want to update QuantiQa Client to the latest version, but retain your
existing configuration (or use an earlier configuration), do the following,
once you have completed steps 1 and 2:

Open Windows Explorer, and select the backups that you made of the
Server settings, Colormaps, Queries, Charts, Presets and Scripts
folders.
4.
Press <CTRL> <C> to copy the folders.
5.
Navigate to the root directory of the new QuantiQa Client

Installation, for example, C:\Program Files\CommProve\Quantiqa.
6.
Press <CTRL> <V> to paste the folder copies into the root directory.

Removing QuantiQa Client

This procedure requires the original QuantiQa Client Setup file (or a
copy with the same software version number), which you used to
install QuantiQa Client. If it is no longer available on your system, you
must use one of the other uninstall methods.
You cannot uninstall a QuantiQa Client, by using the setup file for a
later software version.

Locate the QuantiQa Client Setup file.
2.
Double left-click on the QuantiQa Client Setup File Icon.
