Childcare Health and Social Care - Health and Safety

Care Academy

Welcome to the Care Academy

The Academy provides a range of vocational courses in Childcare and
Health and Social Care.
Qualified lecturers, trainers and assessors based at North Hertfordshire
Colleges Stevenage Centre run the Academy 52 weeks of the year.
Enrolment onto the majority of academy programmers delivered at the
college takes place three times a year; in January, April and September.
The academy can also provide bespoke training options to suit individual
business needs, delivered within the workplace.

Methods of Study
Online Courses

These courses are flexible and can be studied at your own pace, you can dip
in and out of them whenever you wish, and the majority of the course will
be taught online using a virtual learning environment.

Short Courses

These courses range from 3 hours to 5 days, offering bite size learning,
delivered either in your workplace or at college depending on what suits
your business.

Part Time Courses

These courses take place in the evening and can range from 6 months to 2
years; most of the courses require learners to already be working within the
sector they are studying.

Apprenticeships and Traineeships

We offer Apprenticeships at level 2 and level 3 in Childcare, Health

and Social Care and Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
Apprenticeships can be undertaken by existing members of staff or as a
tool for recruiting new staff.
Traineeships generally range form 6 weeks to 6 months and exist as a
stepping-stone into an Apprenticeship. They can be tailored to your
individual business needs, and provide learners with a taste of the sector to
ensure that an Apprenticeship is the right route for both them and you.

Higher Education

We offer the Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Health and Social Care and
Foundation Degrees in both Youth Work and Early Years. Both programmes
are delivered part time at college, and enable learners to progress onto
university study in order to top-up the qualification to a full honours degree.
